Turnbull Vs Abbott, the LNP dilemma!

Turnbull Vs Abbott, the LNP dilemma!

English: Tony Abbott in 2010.

I have to admit that I find it somewhat perplexing that there has been so much talk around, about who should  lead the LNP, and the public preference for Turnbull over Abbott.

Malcolm Turnbull

I’m sorry, but I just don’t get it, and I’m sick of those from both the left and the right waxing lyrical over Turnbull as the better alternative.

For starters, he practised as a journalist, barrister, company legal counsel, and merchant banker, which are perceived by many as some of the least honourable and most self serving occupations in the country, the only ones lacking on his CV are shonky used car salesman and Insurance executive.

Now I know that Turnbull and Abbott come from opposite ends of the conservative spectrum, and that there is probably little love lost between them, but they do have a lot in common, Like they both believe in “whatever it takes”.

Pauline Hanson.

Pauline Hanson. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

For Abbott, a classic example is the “Australians for Honest Politics” slush fund, about which he lied to the AEC, so as not to declare his donors. A slush fund that he set up, ran and used to finance a false legal case against a political rival, Pauline Hanson, who ended up in gaol as a result, and then shortly thereafter acquitted on appeal. There are also other examples, such as the vendetta against individuals like Thomson and particularly his ex “mate” Slipper, where his grubby fingerprints are all over them.

imagesThe “Australians for Honest Politics” case is also an example of something else they have in common; Right Wing Projection, whereby he accused PMJG of doing what he had done with the aforementioned slush fund. The difference being, that JGs involvement in the AWU “affair” has been thoroughly investigated over the last twenty years, with no evidence of wrong doing found, whereas there is evidence of Abbott’s wrong doing.

For Turnbull it is Utegate and the Godwin Gretch affair, that goes to the heart of his “Whatever it takes” mentality, and his character/suitability as not only a party leader, but also as an MP.

Then there’s the case of the multi millionaire (Turnbull estimated worth around $300 Million and the richest sitting MP) who claimed $175.00 per day on expenses for staying in a town house in Canberra, owned by his wife, Lucy, to whom he paid the money, in rent.

And this from the same man who claims that the government is wasting money on infrastructure projects like the NBN, and vehemently opposing new media laws, whilst defending Murdoch’s right to mislead Australians with his right wing media and corrupt practices, for the sake of his own  agenda, under the guise of freedom of the press and free speech.   Classic right wing projection.   😯

They are both blatantly dishonest.

Abbotts litany of lies would fill a tome the size of  “War and Peace”, and Turnbull lies every time he opens his mouth to speak on the NBN, his own portfolio, LNP policy  and in general about the government, and its achievements.

NBN Co (Photo credit: Dushan and Miae)

The worst part about Turnbull’s Mendacious attacks on the NBN, is that he is a tech head who knows that what he’s saying is TurnBULL SHIT.    He’s happy to tell us that fibre to the node (FTTN) is perfectly fine, even though it relies on old copper connections from the node to the premises.

And to add insult to injury, good old Mal is putting his own money into the very system that he says we don’t need; so it’s good enough for him to invest in, but not good enough for us to invest in for the future benefit of our country.   WTF!

The truth is that even though the puppet masters don’t want Turnbull, if only half of  the shit that is just lying there, waiting to hit the fan and bury Abbott; his slush fund, Ashbygate, Slippergate, Thomson not to mention pending litigation etc; actually does hit the fan; then the chances are that Turnbull’s what we’ll get.

The scary thing is that despite his perceived, clean and wholesome, image, Turnbull is every bit as much an LNP party hack as  the rest of Abbott’s/Murdoch’s team, and Abbott and Turnbull are just opposite sides of the same coin.

My main hope is that if and when the shit does hit the fan, it won’t only be Abbott that gets buried, but at least half of his corrupt front bench, and Turnbull will be the last man standing in a decimated party with him as the leader of a sad bunch of “Biggest Losers”  which IMHO is all the lying bastard deserves.

Do we really want either of these lying, cheating, do whatever it takes, morally bankrupt LNP bottom feeders, determining the future direction of this great country and representing us on the world stage?

My answer is a resounding… NO     😯

So  Turnbull Vs Abbott might be a leadership dilemma for the LNP, but either one would be an unmitigated disaster for Australia.

Completely & utterly agree with you, TS. It has always intrigued me as to how many have forgotten the despicable UteGate affair & the distasteful enthusiasm Turnbull & his wife showed when they thought they were about to bring down Kevin Rudd. All with the complicit MSM in attendance. It made for good TV when they ended up with egg on all their faces.

There isn’t a current sitting Federal LNP MP who is fit to be on the Government benches let alone PM of Australia.

    • Truth Seeker says:

Joy, good morning, and thanks for your comment 😀 😎

Yes indeed, Maybe it’s just that there is such a lack of morals and credibility in the LNP, that Turnbull is seen as the best of a very bad bunch. 😦

But as far as I’m concerned, the choice is simple… None of them! 😯

      Cheers 😀

  2. Totally agree. Whilst Abbott is the pits, Turnbull is no better as he proved when he gave his best shot to overthrow the Rudd Government with the Grech Affair.

  3. I recall late last year Conroy raising the issue in the Senate about Turnbull have shares in a Italian Company which specialises in bringing the NBN fibre optic from the node to the home. Given that Turnbull claims it will be cheaper to just bring the NBN to the node, and not the home, I suspect he is on an earner. Why Conroy discontinues to pursue this matter is pure conjecture. Maybe there is nothing in it? But if it is true then pursue it he must, as should the MSM/ABC if they were not so hellbent on regime change.

    • Truth Seeker says:

Ronald, welcome and thanks for your comment 😀

Yes there is plenty of fodder for the MSM, and I hope that there are questions asked and the whole damned lot of the lying LNP brought to account, but I won’t hold my breath. 😯
Sadly I think it’s more than just him on an earner though, I think they are all working to pay back the debt they owe to their puppet masters, Murdoch and Co. 👿

      Cheers 😀

    • Fed up says:

Maybe a little cheaper in the short term. Definitely more costly in the long run. Eventually, the fibre will have to be taken to the premises. Why not do it front up. The long term maintenance cost, will be greater than any short term savings The system will only be as good, as the copper wire, it is delivered on. As for how long it takes to implement fibre to the premises, it will only be a year is so shorter. Then they will have to commence doing away with the copper wire. It is ot so much about download, as it is about upload.

Who wants one of those big boxes on each corner. NOt needed in fibre to premises.

No, NBNCo is the best way to go.

  4. davo says:

What about his questionable dealings in the Solomons timber trade and his gladhanding of $10m to his mate Matt Handbury for a dodgy rainmaking scheme?

    • Truth Seeker says:

Davo, welcome to my site, and thanks for your comment 😀 and the reminder of more of his “Questionable Dealings” 😎

Yes, from memory there are a few shady deals that people should be reminded of. 😀

It seems that more and more, the MSM just ignore graft and corruption as long as it’s in the LNP, but if there is so much as a whisper of anything from the ALP they are all over it like a rash 😯

Keep up the good work 😀 😎

      Cheers 😀

I recall late last year Conroy raising the issue in the Senate about Turnbull have shares in a Italian Company which specialises in bringing the NBN fibre optic from the node to the home.

This is most interesting, when you match this fact with the other investment of Turballs sinking $’s millions into Frances FTTH it is just a massive money making exersize for Tunball he looks at all his portfolios & asks himself whats in it for me, how can I make shitloads of $’s with his inside info. If they buy their way into power in September we all now know who will get the contract for installing fibre from the node to the home. Those nodes that will be underwater in Qld 4-5 times a yr.

    • Truth Seeker says:

khtagh, yes, I knew about his investment in France, that was the one that I alluded to in my post. 😀

And if Abbott gets in, by the time it comes to running FTTH, the chances are that the whole thing will be owned by Murdoch.

      Cheers 😀

  6. Sandra Searle (@SandraSearle) says:

Wonder if Turnbull has any shares in a Copper mine? :-))

  7. khtagh says:

Another point to you great piece would be, naturally Turnball wouldn’t consider bringing in Italian workers on 457 visa’s would he, cheap labour too gosh perish the thought. he’d do it in a flash, both Abbott & Turnball agreed with relaxing the 457 visa’s.

    • Truth Seeker says:

khtagh, thanks for your comment 😀

Yes, I would put nothing past Turdball and the LNP, and in fact I saw the opposition spokesman for small business, on meet the press, hinting that they would also bring back individual workplace agreements… workchoices 2, here we come 😯

If they told you the sky was blue, you’d have to go outside and check for yourself 😦

      Cheers 😀 😎

  8. wazman_nz says:

Good morning TS, i thought i would give you a litle insight into how your Kiwi neighbours have been viewing the latest going’s on in Canberra:

Comment from Ken Maynard:10:53 AM Sunday, 24 Mar 2013 – I have never understood Australia’s pathological hatred of Julia Gillard. She is not an easy person to like, for myself I don’t take to her; but blind hatred is over the top & plain stupid.

She inherited a somewhat poisoned chalice from the inept & failing Kevin Rudd. She has been unpopular as she reversed some policies, but at least has the political courage to change policy when old policies are proven wrong. She has fronted to the press & public, sometimes fronted well, sometimes fronted badly, but always fronted up.

Given that Kevin Rudd is a posturing poster boy & Tony Abbot a petulant child; Julia is the only person fit to have been Prime Minister over the recent period.
This last piece of blood-letting was orchestrated by senior members of her own party, ideologically opposed to her. Yet given that Rudd is a spent force as certain to lose the election as Julia; this was about WHAT exactly?

There are many other similar comments along that same lines regarding the PM.

    Happy Easter

    • Truth Seeker says:

wazman, good morning and thanks for your comment, 😀 and the insight 😎

Yes, love her or hate her, most fair minded people give her credit for doing a good job in very difficult circumstances, but the blind hatred is hard to fathom.

I am currently writing a new post on a subject which touches on this issue, “Tony Abbott, the best and most successful LOTO?”, which I hope to post later today 😀

And a happy Easter to you and yours 😀

      Cheers 🙂 😀 😎

  9. Heather says:

You have to come to the conclusion that people hate Julia because she is a woman doing a job that people have always seen as a man’s domain. As the first woman to do this, she is copping extra vitriolic flack.
I used to think that Turnbull was a reasonable alternative to (god forbid) Abbott, but his performance of late has been abysmal. Has he no balls at all? He just toes the ridiculous party line as laid down by Abbott.
His attacks on the NBN and on the media reform package have been appalling and hypocritical. All those people who support him should be feeling very let down by now. His only saving grace is that he is one notch above Abbott on the moron continuum.

    • Truth Seeker says:

Heather, thanks for your comment. 😀

I am sure that there is a certain amount of hate for Julia because she is a woman, but as I am writing about in my new post “Tony Abbott, the best and most successful LOTO?”, most of the RW nutjobs can’t tell you why he would be a better PM they just don’t want Julia because…

As for Turdball, I suspect that you have got the idea that I’m not a fan 😯 😀

      Cheers 😀

  10. khtagh says:

If we as a nation elect the Whinging Wingnut we will have the entire world shaking it head at us asking why, what were you Aussies thinking?!. Simple the average Australian is bloody stupid we have had it good for so long we have become complacent.

I don’t know about the rest of you but the idea of being the laughing stock of the rest of the world doesn’t sit well with me, but that is what we will be. It will be too late then. We will deserve what we get, recession social up upheaval.

Gina will be happy so will Murdoch, who cares if the rest are poorer, disadvantaged, thrown on the scrap heap replaced with imported cheaper 457 workers.

It comes back to the one fact here in Australia, the right owns the media. They are laughing at us all, knowing ‘No-one can stop them’.

  11. cornlegend says:

    Another good one mate.
    glad to be home tomorrow.
Here I.ve been stuck with a win 98 and dial up.
The NBN is only 7 kms from my home.
    can’t wait

    • Truth Seeker says:

cornlegend, thanks for that 😀 , and I hope you have a safe trip home. 😀

I have just posted another one , so I look forward to your response, a bit of fun for April fools day, but also true 😀

      Cheers 😀

    • Tinfoilhatter says:

You lucky, lucky bastard cornlegend! I will probably never get better than satellite if the population are duped into voting for a patchwork piece of shit, namely the LNP.

  12. cornlegend says:

so close and yet so far.
The map has us down for 3 years.
I was hoping to be connected before September just in case.
My local MP Stephen Jones must be sick of hearing from me

    not that I would condone Piracy {truthseeker ,i need a smiley face here!}
but I downloaded the 4 part series Dust Bowl in 4.. 49 minutes and there weren’t many seeders.
No wonder Murdoch is worried and Foxtel will be worthless, {another smiley face.
Rather than a Nursing Home, I might plonk me and the missus on my daughters door step

  14. cornlegend says:

You and Tinfoilhatter did a bloody good job over at Kates.
I feel the guidance you 2 provided was what she needed to get her over the hump

    • Truth Seeker says:

      cornlegend, thanks for that 😀

She seems to be well on the way now, and we will keep checking in and helping out as much as we can 😎

      Cheers 😀

    • Tinfoilhatter says:

Lucky Kate may have attracted her first troll too!! Ooooh, serious stuff!

      • Truth Seeker says:

Tinfoilhatter, she certainly has 😯 he pops in here from time to time to try and disrupt a thread.

He used to spend all his time on CW and AIMN, but he hasn’t been there for a while, so I think Migs might have barred him 😎

I will email her with a few tips on how to deal with him later 😀

        Cheers 😀
