An Ode to Abbotts Node
Would you like one of these on your street?
This poem came about as a result of a suggestion from one of my valued contributors cornlegend, who thought that a poem on the “Node” would be good.
So cornlegend, this ones for you mate 😀
An ode to Abbotts Node
The fibre node, is sadly
Not a thing of wonder
In a street corner cabinet
So susceptible to blunder
When a street racer crashes
Of his car, it’ll end up under
As the poor old copper connectors,
Will all get torn asunder
😯
It’s the Abbott and the Turd balls
preferred and favoured plan
To run all optical fibre
To the street corner can
Which is really quite surprising
For Mal the tech head man
Cos he knows that the faster speeds
Will just end up in the pan
😦
But he doesn’t really care cos it’s
The LNP party line
And his dummy spits on NBN
Are comparable to Pyne
Who is payed a lot of money
To do nothing but just whine
But the Abbott and his party
Seem to think that that’s just fine
😀
Rejecting without conscience
The fibre to the home
While Abbott’s ignorance flounders
In a sea of mental foam
As he struggles with the concept
Of the need for us to roam
Across the internet, gold plated,
Rather settling for chrome
🙄
And the Turd ball is a hypocrite
Of proportions very vast
As he tries to sell a system that takes us
Forward to the past
Using old and worn out copper
That is destined not to last
And the evidence clear
That it’s wearing out quite fast
😯
But don’t ask Tony Abbott cos
He’s enamoured with the node
Cos it’s cheaper running fibre
To the end of every road
Than to run it to the home,
Which is Labors mother load
So instead of a high speed greyhound,
Abbott offers a cane toad
😉
And I know that there are those who think
The node is much maligned
Cos our future with the internet
By speed has been defined
And the fibre to the home
Is the system most refined
And the fibre to the node should
To our history, be confined
😀
But the node is symptomatic
Of the LNP’s intent
As they seek to save a dollar
Through their ideological bent
Arguing why supply fast broadband
To those who struggle to pay the rent
It’s the rich that deserve the faster speeds
And to them it should be sent
😯
So don’t whinge and whine you peasants
With copper running from the road
As you can’t afford the luxury
Of the faster mother load
And if the LNP are elected
The truth is… well… it doesn’t bode
Cos the very best you’ll get from them
Is fibre… to the… node
😦
What about this beauty, and imagine how much graffiti could be sprayed over one of these?
Fine specimens aren’t they?
If you would like to Email a pollie about these cabinets or anything else, please feel free to go to our TPS Mail page and click on the link 😎
Great poem, Truth Seeker, naturally. 🙂
One thing is definite, you won’t see these atrocious monstrosities as street furniture in any of the swanky suburbs of the capital cities. They’ll have FTTP. It will just be the hoi polloi stuck with these vandal attracting traffic crash victims being flooded out every time it rains.
We have enough internet outages as it is. We don’t need them to be more frequent along with a more costly, inferior & dodgier service.

One thing is for sure TS. They, most assuredly, will not appear in the streets of Point Piper where Malcolm Turnbull lives nor in the streets of leafy Forestville where the Abbott family reside. ;0

Lovely stuff, Truth Legend.
I noticed this in yesterday’s Age Nielsen Poll –
‘according to the first national poll on the policies.
Of those who had heard about the government’s NBN, about 63 per cent of those surveyed supported it, reveals the Fairfax/Nielsen poll of 1400 Australians. However, of those who have heard about the Coalition’s alternative, only 41 per cent back it.’

Let’s hope that reason will prevail. This issue could come back to bite the bottoms of the LNP.
I also noticed that there has been a big poll of Queensland voters which is showing serious swing against the Qld LNP Government. The article by Matthew Donovan on the
Australian Independent Network site is well worth reading in full. https://blu150.mail.live.com/default.aspx?id=64855#n=1443866418&fid=1&mid=4f1f9502-a62c-11e2-8b77-002264c24806&fv=1

Good one, Truth Seeker! I actually laughed out loud at the line about the Cane Toad. Maybe an enterprising graffiti artist could paint one on a Node Box? 😉
Honestly, though, you’d have to have rocks in your head to think that a free connection of fibre to your premises, home or business, is inferior to having to pay $5000 to Telstra for same.

Yes, sadly though most of the graffiti “Artist” can’t even spell their names, much less paint a cane toad, although I must concede some of them are truly brilliant. 😀
But I have to agree with you, and I hope that it will become a game changer 😀
That’s why I found the photos, to show what we’re in for. 😯

Truth Seeker, perhaps you should photoshop some large FOXTEL logos all over them to really give the people the right idea.

cornlegend, Thanks mate 😀 but I did realise that about half an hour after I posted 😳 I’ll have to put it down to being one of those days 😯
I woke up feeling like shit, which got progressively worse all day, we’re half way through getting our house re-stumped, and the holes for the stumps keep filling up with water, my wife organised to get the lounge and the chairs cleaned, which just put more water under the house from a leaking tap fitting, I was writing these replies whilst waiting for a student and an excavator operator, who turned up late, half way through the lesson, and all while trying to organise an electrician mate to lay some conduit under our creek amongst other things 😥
Oh the humanity 😦 😯 😥
but other than that it’s been a pretty good day 😯
But now that I’ve vented my spleen, I feel much better 😀 or not 😦
I was going to start another poem, but I’m waiting for the headache to go, cos I can’t see straight, so I might just have another scotch instead 😀
So cheers mate 😀 and I do mean cheers 😀 😀 😀

Morning cornlegend, and thanks for your concern 😀 Yes so far so good, although I’m a bit confused about the way the comments are going. 😉
The messages seem to go all over the place on this thread since I deleted a couple of comments, yesterday. 😯 I’m not sure why, but thanks for persevering 😀
More bloody rain overnight won’t improve the water level in the stump holes though, but regardless they should be all but finished today, and then we start with the builder ripping out the termite damage in the laundry 🙄
I need to write something to distract me for a while 😀 but my head keeps coming back to stumps, builders and mess 😯 so if you have any suggestions for a possible article or poem I would appreciate it 😀
Got to go out shopping for birthday presents and cake decorations for our grand daughter this morning, so that will be a bit of a distraction 😯
Hopefully back after lunch 😉
Cheers 😀

I think I read it somewhere, or maybe dreamt it, but the LNP, who can’t express their policies, have decided to form a choir, to take our minds off the fact that they have NO POLICIES
They are going around the constituencies that have a NODE.
The Choir will be led by the man who won’t accept he’s not PM, Tony Abbott.
The choir consists of Kelly O’Dwyer, ,Mathias Cormann, Bronwyn Bishop, Eric Abetz, Christopher Pyne, Sophie Mirrabella, Scott Morrison and George Brandis,
The tour will be funded by Gina.
A singalong booklet will be in all Ruperts papers
George Pell will bless this sorry lot.
He’s told them that GOD is on their side {RUPERT}
They will be singing a selection of TRUTHSEEKER poems on a corner near you.
yeah, I’m sure I read that somewhere ?

If the Mad Monk gets in I can’t wait to see the Large road side Node cabinets, located around Point Piper and the leafy north shore of Sydney
Ive got the photo, intend to get all my neighbours to sign a petition, saying we don’t want a
Large road side Node cabinet
in our area.
Will affect property values
Will attract graffiti [mainly from me.
Is a bloody eyesore.

cornlegend, glad you enjoyed the results of your inspiration 😀 and I thought the photos were a good cross section of what we can expect. 😯
Even the smaller ones are an eyesore and plenty big enough for a good dose of graffiti, or carnage, as if the mad drivers around the place haven’t got enough things to run into.

Cornlegend, thanks for your kind thought mate, 😀 The scotch has helped a bit, and a good nights sleep would be a fine thing.
I’m now just biding my time until the dog can go out for his last pee and then it’s a quick shower and bed.
The weather up here has been pretty warm today, although they keep threatening a storm tonight, but it hasn’t eventuated so far. The water under the house is left over from the storm last Friday, but every thing is so wet, that even with the last few days of little rain, it just won’t dry out.
I live in hope that the next week will be dry, as the creek needs to dry out a bit before we excavate for the conduit, but I won’t hold my breath 🙄
I also hope tomorrow is better, as we have to go into Caloundra and up to Kawana for some shopping in the morning (Oh joy of joys 😯 )
Anyway mate, thanks again and cheers 😀

Great pome, TS as always. I hope if Ettridge’s suit is successful. it will put a big fat dent in Liealot and the Liars Party. And if Ashnbygate gets traction, the Liars and Rupert will be mortally wounded.
No street cabinets, no $5k runs from the node to the premises, no Liars Party.

Fancy putting the LNP wingnuts in charge of something like this. They’ve never built any successful infrastructure to speak of, let alone the biggest project in Australia’s history. They pledged to dismantle the people’s broadband network, so they’ve got ZERO credibility. Get out of the way, you wingnuts. Let the infrastructure experts do it right the first time. NBN with Labor.
