If the MSM told me the sky was blue, I’d have to check for myself!
On Friday, the MSM showed once again how misleading and downright mendacious they are.
There is no longer any pretence at objectivity or fair and honest reporting, it’s all about them, their bosses and Their preferred option for PM.
They no longer report the news, they just make it up to suit their own agendas!
My morning started with no signal on any ABC channel, so I had to resort to the TODAY “Show” sporting that doyen of right wing spin Karl Stuckwithnodick dribbling the Murdoch meme of “so the ALP are gone for all money”, while Julie (I only tell lies while I’m conscious) Bishop made lots of noise about how “Kevin” is buffing up in preparation for the fifteenth coming, based on what he didn’t say on the 7.30 report.
She was almost bouncing with barely contained glee, until the ALP man (Who’s name escapes me) said she was a liar over her Indonesian debacle and how she verballed their diplomat, which not only wiped the self satisfied smugness from her dial, but obviously made her think that she was in parliament again, as she demanded he withdraw.
But to her chagrin he did not “withdraw”, but rather he repeated his statement, and then further elaborated, which I have to say, with hindsight, was the best of the mornings viewing, as it went down hill from there.
As Stuckwithnodick jumped to her defence, I could no longer stomach the hypocrisy and blatant right wing bias, so I flipped to 7 to hear the same crap from their alleged reporters.
Finally out of desperation I tried the ABC again only to find that the signal was restored and there was Michael Rowland and his porcelain doll sidekick Beverly(ALP I fart in your general direction) O’Connor (slightly reminiscent of a female Chucky) making similar assertions.
They then did a live cross to Kevin Rudd at a shopping ctr where after trying to get him to say anything that would add fuel to another challenge claim (which many had already declared was in the offing), some smart arse reporter asked him to comment on Bill Shorten’s statement that “Labor is headed for a landslide defeat.”
Now to Rudd’s credit he refused to buy into the “challenge” speculation or to comment on statements that he had not heard, at which point I once more lunged for the remote only to stumble across two reporters speaking about the same statement from Shorten, except that one of them actually let slip, what I later found out was “His” version of the whole statement, which was “IF the polls are correct, then Labor is headed for a landslide defeat”.
The other reporter then leaving out the the qualifier, “IF” the polls are correct” just repeated the “Labor are headed for a landslide defeat”, which I heard repeated time and again throughout the day.
Now at most Shorten could be accused of stating the bleeding obvious, but I have since heard the “Real” Quote, from a radio interview, which was “If the polls are correct… If the polls are correct , then Tony Abbott will win in a landslide.”
Now apart from the repeated qualifier, which clearly shows a questioning of said poll results and subsequently alters the connotation of the last half of the sentence (as in the so called “Carbon Tax” lie, where the qualifier was conveniently left off the end), even the reporter who supposedly quoted the whole statement, misquoted.
So the conclusion that I came to a long time ago, and was firmly reinforced on Friday is;
“If the MSM told me that the sky was blue, I’d have to check for myself!”
I suppose one could say, if the weather forecast is correct, it might rain today. I
have not said, it will rain. “if” a little word that can have big meanings. One should not ignore it.
One cannot really say, no the polls are wrong. The truth is, ones does not know.

Yes “If” is a small word with big consequences for a statement and its context.

With Rudd, one has little choice, You can expel him. You can tell him to shut up. Both would backfire.
Sensible action, is to tell him to get out and sell Labor and the Gillard government,
He is going to get the attention anyway, considering the adolescent media we have.
Maybe allowing him to be centre of attention, flooding the TV with his stunts, might lead to the media tiring of him, as the truth is, he has nothing new to say.
At least,he is showing Abbott up. Maybe his followers will get the message. It is not between Rudd and Gillard, but Gillard and ABBOTT.

Yes, just let him do what he’s doing, he’s already said on more than one occasion that he supports the PM, so let the MSM go their hardest, as they will end up looking more and more stupid and irrelevant 😯
We will prevail 😀

I agree. Can’t hide Rudd, let him do what he does best – for some reason the MSM appear to be interested in what he has to say (shame that the PM is not treated to the same respect) and he really does make Tony look even more gauche – if that was possible.

If, as the MSM is currently claiming, Rudd’s latest run at the hustings is another attempt to de-stabilise the PM, I am very disappointed.
Do we really wind up with the government we deserve? I don’t believe we deserve Abbott.

Dianna, without taking one side or the other, WRT Rudd, that fact is that he is an elected representative and has every right to campaign for the party.
As far as I am concerned, and I know that some will disagree with me, he has made his support for the PM clear, and it is a sad fact that most speculation was based on what it was perceived that he didn’t say.
And the truth is that it’s more than likely that it’s MSM that are trying to destabilise. 😯
I have heard many say that we get the government that we deserve, but I think iif Abbott does win, we got the government that Murdoch wants! 👿

truth seeker,, when I read on a blog that bill had said that I thought I bet he did not,
that’s not the sort of thing Bill Shorten would say, so I went to his web site, and read another door stop, the reporter on that particular date was putting words in his mouth, from now on, I will go to the ministers page and have a look.
The damage of course is done, how does one correct every wrong statement and exaggeration,
From what I see most old media staff are not on twitter, if they where, we could link from the Ministers web site to the reporter and to the newpapers somehow , we have to make these people know we know , even if is just the cyber population, if its an abc reporer we could tweet it back to scott, just a suggestion
If they in the end find out we are watching every word to make sure what the ministers says is reported word for word.

I am listening to the ABC RN Outsiders. Todays talking heads are; Ian Hanke (Mr Hanky snorkle can’t stop finding that funny – yes I am that pathetic) former Howard spruiker, Toby Ralph (another member of the far-right) and, presumably for balance, Wendy Harmer.
“passed caring” – truer words I cannot find, the above group spent the entire air-time chuckling at a Labor party deemed “atrocious” by Mr Hanke, they batted about the idea of Rudd’s on the road campaign as either another run for leadership or a determined effort to place Labor in a positive light. Speculation which lasted an entire second before returning to the giggle-fest.
I don’t think I can listen to a further 4 months of this indulgent schadenfreude directed at Labor.
Beam me up Scotty.

Glad you had a good break, 😀 but Mate, I was very distressed to see your comment on IA, and am currently writing a new post about how we can’t let the bastards win.
The truth is that we still have a long way to go, and I do understand the frustration, as I spent most of the weekend and yesterday yelling at the TV calling the mendacious LNP members and the MSM every possible verbal permutation of lying Bastards/Pricks that I could think of, and I have to say there were quite a few permutations that I voiced, that I didn’t even realise that I knew 😯
But as I have said many times and will continue to say, “Capitulation is not an option!”
We “WILL” prevail. 😀

I tried to post this on IA but for some reason, it won’t come up.
To all those who have commented regarding my post.
I WILL NEVER give up.
I will die a lefty, knowing full well that I , in my own heart, have done the right thing in opposing the LNP at every turn.
I believe I have lived my life with a “social conscience” and Abbott and his right wing rabble can never strip that away from me.
I will make every effort possible to try to keep Abbott out of the Lodge.
I am, however, appalled at the thought that my own, the friends of years gone by, of the left, have taken the MSM crap, hook line and sinker.
I feel I have to have a personal crusade to get Labor re elected.
I reveled in the time of Gough, I dodged the Vietnam conscription Lottery by one day, and I feel I owe.
I am saddened by my generation.
We have left future generations with a hell of a mess.
I am disgusted, when I look back on the greedy, selfish “baby boomers” rallying outside Parliament, spurred on by Alan Jones, in the campaign against the Price on Carbon.
The horrible “ditch the witch” ,”Bob Browns Bitch” banners they stood behind.
Go back and have a look at the pictures of that Rally.
Almost all grey haired wrinklies, like me.
I feel embarrassed.
We owe our future generations a clean planet, a decent health care system, decent education, the NDIS, NBN.
I will never give up.
I just wait for Labor to start the fightback.
They have the runs on the board.
I want them to fight to WIN this election, not just try to preserve some seats.
I wait for the fight to begin
And I wait, and wait, and wait

Yes it’s hard to imagine anything else, but the fact is that they don’t really matter
I was reading the reachtel details today, and the questions they asked started with;
Q. If a Federal Election was held today, to which party will you probably give your first preference vote? If not sure, which party are you currently leaning toward?
Q. If don’t know‐Well which party are you currently leaning to?
So as you can see there are plenty of options to make your preference clear… NOT.

This PM has never responded as many expect. From what we seen today, it appears, she is going to take Abbott on, on Abbott’s ground.
I think we better hang on, it is going to be a wild ride. The PM, when one thinks about it, is left no option, but to chance everything.
Suspect, we will not hear the word Coalition or Abbott. It will be all about men, wearing blue ties. The males on Drum, have already fell into the trap. Saying that she is wrong.
They did not comprehend the words, men in blue ties, telling woman, they know better what women want.
Yes, this is indeed a brave and gutsy woman. When one risk all, one can also lose. If that is so, it will not be without a fight.
It is a fight, that most women, should want her to win. It is our fight, and the fight that we do not want to see our daughters, and their daughters have to fight.
It is two pronged. One, women finally taking their place in a society, where gender does not count. The second, taking our democracy back from one tr two media moguls. Both are worth winning.
I have always said, this election will not be a rerun of the previous. When I said that, I was only acknowledging that the PM has grown in posture. Maybe there is something in the genes of Welsh politicians, that do not conform.
I believe that Abbott broadcasts every punch. Not so, our redhead.

Would like to remind many, that similar rally in Sydney, was out numbered by a one supporting the tax, at Central. I believe there where more of us oldies, many accompanied by what looked like two and three generations.
They were much nicer people too. No ugly signs and banners. Just people, saying, we care.

My concern, and I suppose I could have phrased it better, was, How many pics of the rallies you and I attended have you seen ?
How many of the disgusting one in Canberra have you seen ?
the “Browns Bitch” the “Ditch the Witch” with Abbott in the foreground.
The “bused in crowd’ shipped in by Jones and cohorts, and fawned over by Abbott, Mirrabella and Bishop were a disgrace.
Almost the whole of that rally were people of my generation, and the ones interviewed, beside spewing bile at Gillard, brought up the “cost they would suffer under a carbon tax.
I felt ashamed that they showed so little concern for future generations

I agree with most of the comments above. Regarding Julia’s different approach. I heard her say in question time in answer to a question from an independent (i think) she was ready to get the debate commision fired up to debate abbott as often as she could. Pressure needs to be put on abbott to front up to as many debates as possible to give him the maximum chance to lose the unlosable. To the internet savvy out there start demanding debates.
An aside: Truthie I hope I haven’t overloaded your brain cells with ideas they must be working ten to the dozen. Keep up the good work.
