Murdoch’s Poll machines stuck on the spin cycle.
I seem to spend a lot of time, these days, yelling obscenities at the TV as the programs
that are supposed to report or discuss the news, are in reality, more about making it up or becoming a part of it!
Of course I’m referring to the latest round of speculation about the much longed for (by the LNP, which in itself speaks volumes) and MSM touted, on again, off again Leadership spill.
Now call me cynical 😯 but when I heard the first new reference to this latest round, it was from that drooling, dribbling, whining, whinging, whimpering mouth of Chrissy (The Mincing Poodle) Pyne, saying how his “sources within the ALP!” at which point I had an involuntary WTF moment.
Now I personally have trouble imagining anyone, even in his own party, that would want to associate with him if they didn’t have to, but in the ALP, anything short of an LNP plant it’s all but unthinkable.
And far be it from me to call him a LIAR 😆 but seriously who, in their right mind, would be sitting in caucus, or on the back bench thinking 💡 ‘I know… If I tell my mate Chrissy this, I can be instrumental in losing the election, destroying the ALP, losing my own seat and setting the country back 20 + years’
Which brings me to the reason for all this speculation… The Polls.
As they are more regular than mendacious Murdoch’s bowel movements, and for the most part, of similar consistency, it’s hardly surprising that they are used ad-infinitum by his own LTD News Papers (which are also full of it 😯 )
So how are the polls conducted?
The most common formula used, is for the pollsters to contact people via a landline. There are a couple of obvious problems with this method;
- Most people under 40 no longer have landlines, they use mobiles, meaning that a large percentage of the voting public will never get polled.
- Landlines are easy to manipulate, as I demonstrated in a previous post; a five minute search on the internet will provide all the landline prefixes for any electorate, which can then be used to provide skewed numbers.
Next we have the questions asked.
The last couple of polls that I took a close look at had questions like;
If an election were held today which party would get your first preference, and if you are not sure, which party are you leaning towards? followed by If you don’t know, which party are you leaning towards?
Now I initially thought WTF? Followed by, why don’t they just have a separate “Not sure” and “Don’t know” , or just“undecided” answer option?
Then I thought back over most of the polls that I have seen, recently at least, and realised that none that I can recall show the number of undecided and many list the percentage to 100% while not listing any percentage of undecided, so my question is how can these polls be taken seriously?
And the short answer is; THEY SHOULDN’T BE!
Now having come to that conclusion, the only other point that needs to be made about
these polls is, as in this weeks polls, there is a Morgan poll that shows a lift in the ALP’s numbers and a major discrepancy between the Murdoch/Fairfax polls, but the much larger and more comprehensive Morgan poll which includes, internet and face to face content, and which is the most recent poll, is ignored. The real frustration for me and, I’m sure, many others, is that the other more questionable polls are quoted as “The most recent” and regurgitated and fawned over as the be all and end all, definitive expression, of voting intensions… again WTF?
One other point about the numbers is that if the don’t knows and undecideds are included in the 100% total, and the majority of respondents say that they are voting other than ALP, then it would also be fair to assume that the vast majority of respondents who prefer Rudd, don’t actually intend to vote ALP.
On top of that, even if 50% of the total 32% of ALP respondents prefer Rudd (That’s just 16% of total respondents), that makes a much larger percentage of LNP respondents and “others” that want Rudd, and My question is … “Why is that?”
Could it be that the people that want Rudd the most, are not ALP supporters but rather those with an ulterior motive?
So why is it that we are bombarded with polls almost every day, that are then dissected and interpreted by our mendacious MSM, owned or controlled by Murdoch and his mendacious mogul mates, and the independent polls are ignored when they contradict the results of News Poll or one of the other media owned polling companies?
And the only answer that I can come up with is that, like a broken washing machine that won’t actually wash the clothes, just fills up the tub, wets them and then spins them out while they’re still dirty;
‘Murdoch’s poll machines are also stuck on the “spin” cycle!’ 🙄
