It’s not the refugees that are politically expedient, but the LNP and the greens!

Since last Friday, Tony Abbott has gone from grudging support for Rudd’s PNG solution to “it’s already unravelling” to “It won’t work, cos you can’t trust this government to implement it”.

Now the evidence is already piling  up that it will and, in fact, is working, despite the concerted efforts of Abbott and Milne, and their respective parties to make sure that it doesn’t.

They have well and truly shown that, despite copious amounts of crocodile tears during this term of government, over the plight of asylum seekers, the deaths at sea are nothing more than collateral damage in the fight for  political power, and all the slogans and rhetoric are meaningless.

Thanks to Cornlegend for finding this pic.

Thanks to Cornlegend for finding this pic.

The sad thing is that despite Abbott’s rhetoric about Rudd being the People smugglers best friend and travel agent (More of his sloganeering), the truth is that he is the one telling them that the  PNG solution is only a fix for the election, and that it won’t work long term, and as a result encouraging them to maintain the pressure by sending more boats.

So it is fairly clear that Abbott does NOT want Rudd’s plan to succeed, and as with his bid for the top job, he will do and say anything to achieve his political ambitions including screaming from the roof tops   “STOP THE BOATS”, whilst actively working to make sure that they “don’t” stop.

And at the other end of the political spectrum, we have Milne trying to tell us that the greens are all about fairness and caring, whilst announcing a policy that clearly advantages the higher paid over the  lower socioeconomic demographic, and closely resembles Abbott’s PPL scheme.

They also cry foul at every possible opportunity,  claiming that PNG is such a terrible place to be sending asylum seekers, and actively promoting the failure of the PNG solution, sounding so outraged at any policy but their own, as if they are the fonts of all knowledge and wisdom,  as another boat capsizes and at least one more life is lost.

So can we safely assume that Milne and the greens would rather see asylum seekers sent to the bottom of the Indian ocean, than to PNG?

The reality is that if, as I predicted in my previous posts, only a few hundred asylum seekers end up in PNG, the flow on effect, over time, will be to make not only Manus Island obsolete, but also Nauru, and the detention centre on Christmas Island as the boats slow and eventually stop.

This eventuality will also free up millions if not billions of aid dollars for regional processing, as well as the resettlement of genuine refugees who have been assessed and approved through the UNHCR, and who are currently languishing in camps across Indonesia, Malaysia, North Africa and the Middle East  etc.images I have yet to come across anyone who has all the answers, but one thing that I’m sure of is that something needs to be done to stop the tragic loss of life.

One other thing that I’m sure of is that Abbott and Milne do not have the policies or the political will to stop the drownings! I say that with all confidence based on the fact that if they were serious, they would be prepared to compromise in at least the short term, for the sake of doing something to save lives, with a view to making it better with their own policies if and when they get the opportunity.

The time for political posturing is over, and we need to send a strong and unequivocal message to the dissenters, and the people smugglers that we have, as a nation, had enough of the lies, spin, slogans and most importantly the deaths.

And to Abbott and Milne, that if you continue to actively promote and advocate for the boats to keep coming through your mendacious, malicious  and disingenuous statements. then you will prove conclusively to those that really care about the real issues, that;

    Truth seeker
I have to say, this is not a very good article.
Not once have you cowtowed to the evil right.
Not once have you presented a lie as a fact, to enhance your article,
not once have you misrepresented the facts
Not once have you claimed to know how to solve this bloody mess.
This is not good enough !!!!!
You will never qualify for a MSM career.
You won’t get honorary membership to the Greens or LNP if you keep this up

See Truthy,, if Julia said something the MSM disagreed with she was a liar, JULIAR.
If Abbott, Bishop or Morrison LIE, it is “misrepresenting”
The PNG PM Peter Oneill said
“Mr O’Neill has accused the Opposition of misrepresenting a private briefing he gave them last week about the deal for political gain.

“I don’t particularly appreciate being misrepresented by others for their own political interests,” he told the ABC.

“I am disappointed with some of the debates put forward by some of the leaders in the Opposition in Australia, in particular statements I am alleged to have made to them.

“They are completely untrue.” Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has suggested the foreign aid money would not be spent responsibly and with accountability.

Mr O’Neill is calling on the Opposition to show more respect in its dealings with his government.

“We are not going to put up with this kind of nonsense,” he said.

“We are helping resolving an Australian issue.”

So the bastards LIED, when they fronted MSM.
Truthy, your article is based on common sense, rational thought and empathy.
You foolish little Truthy , that will never do.
You need to throw in a few lies, some over the top statements, and some airy fairy rubbish.
you need to bash Rudd for even TRYING to sort the mess out.
Sensible stuff like this article will never do.
    Rupert will never employ you.

One of your very best, Truthy, but thats from an old lefty, so I have to be wrong, 🙂

I’m afraid you’re wrong there, Cornie. If any of that mob of w@nkers tells a lie, it’s completely ignored by the msm.

I bet Truthie’s glad Rupert won’t be offering him a job anytime soon. There wouldn’t be enough kero baths to wash the taint off.

Love it Truthie. I don’t know how you can put it all together so quickly.

Yes, when all’s said and done, the top priority is to stop the drownings now, or as close to now as possible. But I also believe there’s an awful lot that needs to be done to ensure the safety and well-being of the asylum seekers who are now in our care, as well as those who will be in PNG’s care in the future.

I posted a piece on the asylum-seeker situation last night.

Well, just when we thought we had seen & heard it all from the egregious Coalition opposition they have come up with another real doozie. Their shameless, so-called “Operation Sovereign Borders” (whoever stayed up nights coming up with THAT monicker). This one was dredged from the very bottom of the sewers. It is an absolute disgrace & I am gobsmacked by the depths to which the opposition have sunk in their efforts to pander to the lowest of the low, uncompromising racists of our society. “National emergency” indeed. Not one alleged journalist has even remotely challenged them over this hare-brained, imbecilic policy. General Hurley was not impressed with the implication he had given this policy the ok. Interestingly the ABC have excised his disclaimer from their latest reports.

The coalition has announced a new border protection policy that will have a lieutenant general co-ordinating the government response to people smugglers if it wins the election.
Under the proposal, named Operation Sovereign Borders, the commander would be appointed by the Chief of the Defence Force and would report directly to the Immigration Minister.

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said people smuggling was a “national emergency”.

He said a Coalition government would ask the Defence Force to appoint a three-star commander to lead a joint agency taskforce to deal with people smugglers and border protection.

So now we have major general Jim Molan, who has apparently been recruited by abort to give him some semblance of(credibility) who the f12c7 knows what spruiking the new abort policy like a snake oil salesman on a mission.

Ye gods, a retired war-monger recruited as a salesman because no matter how hard he tries credling(the ability to walk and talk bullshit, but only in three word grabs) has now failed so we have to recruit another nutter with a policy that will not be implemented because it is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

But never mind that, it makes abort look really tough.

If I were him I’d sack the useless but apparently High Profile

    Truthy,
as I know, you and a few of your posters are big fans of the Greens 😀
One little dilemma I have, and maybe you or one of your readers can put me out of my misery on this , is
The Greens are predominantly an Environmental party. Stop coal mines, stop logging, basically stop using water out of the Murray, and on and on.
BUT, SHY, on the Asylum Seeker issue seems to indicate we should have an open border policy.
So theoretically, we could quite easily, under her option, take an extra million or two.
What affect would this have on
    A. the environment [we’d need a building boom, timber cement, steel etc {mining and logging]
    B. the Budget.
    C. Energy production.
    D. Food security
    E. water
plus a heap of other environmental related issues.
Does this mean the Greens have forgone the environment, for the sake of the Asylum Seeker issue ?
Abandoning green issues , along with their PPL scheme, might get them more brownie points from Tony, and preferences.
This may well delay their inevitable disappearance into the political oblivion.

Cornie, I can’t answer your comment but can I say this? I am a member of the wilderness society because I care deeply about the environment. I did vote for the greens at the last federal election but I gave my second preference to my bloody good Labor MP. The reason I voted for the greens was because I felt that Labor was not paying enough attention to some very pressing environmental matters in my electorate, albeit that there did seem to be a commitment to doing something about the Murray/Darling debarcle. And to her credit our much mourned former PM did something no other PM in this countries history did, she got an agreement on the MD.

While all this was happening I started to look seriously at the greens(infatuation never lasts long) and bugger me,what I found was that these ponced up superior people were of the opinion that it mattered not what the legislation was, if they couldn’t write it weren’t worth supporting. Gillards mistake was to take these idiots at face value, and of late we can all see the truly nasty political agenda that these so-called purists have adopted. They weep their faux tears as they play off the major parties for a preference deal and continue to undermine every attempt to stop people drowning. They are political opportunists writ large who no longer give a rats arse about their reason for being. And they now have a candidate who uses public forums on the guardian to attack, denigrate and abuse the people of this country who would pay his wages if he was elected.
