Over the last couple of days, there have been two policy announcements that promote much head scratching and that old perennial…  WTF?

The first one was that major brain fart, labelled by Bill Shorten as “Cash for sea going Clunkers!” 

Now this (and I use the term advisedly) policy has more holes in it than the boats they intend to buy.

I do hope that the LNP have a paypal account, as they will need it when ebay sets up their “Leaky Indonesian Fishing Boat” category, and starts the bidding war for the multitude of boats available.

I am sure however that there will be a large number of of owners of said leaky boats that will be more than happy for the renewed interest that will be generated, and the increased value of their boats.   😯

At this point I would normally be screaming how much will this harebrained scheme cost, but I very much doubt that they will end up buying one boat, or if they do, it will be the one that the smugglers rejected (I wonder if there’s a people smuggler named John West?)   😉

For a party that supposedly believes in market based systems, and allowing market forces to determine prices and profits etc, they have shown a remarkable level of ignorance and stupidity (even for them?) in developing this particular piece of shit policy.   🙄

So after spending at least three minutes weighing up the cons and cons of this “policy (?)”  the over-riding question that came to mind was:

WTF were they thinking?

Then came the LNP campaign launch where lots of right wing nut-jobs spoke for copious amounts of time and said absolutely nothing.

Having said that, amongst all the white noise, Abbott did manage to release another policy (?) of sorts?

The amazing thing is that the party that has spent most of the last three years telling us how we have to live within our means, and taking every opportunity to say that debt is bad, and that the government cannot manage the economy because they will always build debt and deficit instead of surpluses , has decided that it’s absolutely fine and dandy for apprentices to start their lives as a tradie, with a $20,000 debt.   😯

Now, I’m not so much looking at the policy (?), although I’m sure that there would be better ways of encouraging apprentices to finish their time, but rather the hypocrisy of the LNP.

Why is it that it is OK for LNP MPs to have mortgages and other personal debts, it’s fine for students and now apprentices to finish their studies with a substantial debt, and with the median annual income of around $70,000, and the average mortgage of around $300,000, it is soooo wrong for the government to have a modest percentage of debt to GDP?

So as far as I can see, the only conclusion that any fair minded individual could come to is that the LNP are monumental hypocrites, and despite the 30-70 billion black hole in their costings;
