Said the Abbott to the Bishop. Take 3.
With the anger and frustration of the MSM ignoring the real issues for the sake of producing what according to Clive Palmer are, at the best, suspect polls.
And the declarations by MSM commentators, that the election is now a foregone conclusion, and simply a rubber stamp for the totally unscrutinised LNP, I thought it was time once more, for a bit of light relief.
So with that in mind I have written another in my series of “Said the Abbott” poems 😀 .
So without further adjure:
Said the Abbott to the Bishop. Take 3
Said the Abbott to the Bishop
We must keep our heads down low
We’ve lied and obfuscated
Now there’s just one week to go
We’ve held back on our costing’s
Cos we think that’s really smart
And I wont appear on Q and A
To avoid the odd brain fart
😉
I got through the debating
With a minimum of hits
Though the fact that Rudd won’t shut up
Is really giving me the shits
He keeps demanding costing’s
And he just won’t let it go
Cos he knows we can’t release them
Cos our big black hole will show
😯
And you really did outdo yourself
At the launch of our campaign
And I thought you showed great sex appeal
Though some, thought you… insane
Strutting all your K Rudd stuff
Like a sexy comedy loner
As you told your jokes and patted you arse
You gave me quite a boner
😀
Said the Abbott to Snot Morrisscum
We must look clean and squeaky
Even though, just like the boats we’ll buy
Our policy is leaky
So keep talking about the numbers and
Encouraging boats to come
But be careful to disguise the truth
Or it’ll bite us on the bum
😉
Said the Abbott to the Turuball
About a win, I’m felling pumped
But if you don’t get with the program
Like many promises you’ll get dumped
If you keep on dropping bits of truth
Throughout our litany of lies
I’ll have to take you out the back
And give you two black eyes
😯
So just support our fraudband
And keep your own thoughts to yourself
Or your political career will end up
Languishing upon the shelf
And we must maintain the focus
On our infrastructure plan
For our 20th century roadways
Cos I’m a 20th century man.
🙄
Said the Abbott to Clive Palmer
Leaving us, you think was funny
But you really should have stuck with us
Cos we really love your money
And revealing your time bribing pollster
For us, could cause some panic
And could sink our chances at the polls
Just like the old Titanic
😯
So please mate, come back to the fold
And we’ll promise to play nicely
And for your support, your policies
We’ll implement precisely
But if you won’t re-join the fold
Stop speaking out of school
Or the people might just realise
That I ‘m just Murdoch’s tool
😉
Said Clive Palmer to the Abbott
I cannot support your lies
So with your nasty LNP
I’ve severed all my ties
Your morals and your scruples
Are in truth completely missing
And your win, you’ll nail to Murdoch’s mast
Who’s arse you’ll still be kissing
😯
Said the Abbott to the Sloppy Joe
Your numbers are all dodgy
But they match up with our policies
Which are also fairly bodgie
So we really must maintain the rage
With righteous indignation
Cos to tell the truth will kill the dream
To gain my rightful station.
🙄
So dodge and weave, and cut and run
And keep the truth from view
Cos uncle Rupert’s got our backs
And he’ll lie to get us through
He’ll rig the polls and print the spin
And make us look like winners
While his banners scream out loud and clear
To the people… “Come in… spinners!”
😯
Keep up the good work

Why has Abbott changed, when it comes to the economy?
“…..Let’s start with the ALP’s “Tony’s got horrible hidden spending cuts” attack. This was based on Labor’s belief that Tony Abbott was serious in his contention that there was a “budget emergency” that required a rapid return to budget surplus and that he had savings measures ready, but locked away from the scrutiny of the voters.
Given the fury of his “debt ‘n deficit” rhetoric of the past three years, that may have seemed a reasonable assumption. But even as the ALP ratcheted up the attack, Abbott himself was abandoning the whole budget emergency idea and telling us he couldn’t really say when he would deliver a surplus, and that, in effect, his fiscal policy wasn’t all that different from Labor’s. There may yet be some hidden cuts, but they seem unlikely to be sufficiently scary to turn his political lights out, as Labor’s advertising creators were hoping…”

Some of Abbott’s cuts. The ones he has let us know about. One can only wonder what he has in reserve. These hit low income earners.
“………………Nonetheless Labor persisted, and in doing so virtually ignored the real cuts the Coalition had laid out – the abolition of the schoolkids bonus ($4.6bn worth of payments to families), the $1.6bn hit on shareholders and self-funded retirees from the Coalition’s decision to not count its 1.5% levy as a tax for tax credit purposes, the $3.7bn that won’t be paid to low-income earners’ superannuation accounts, the $1bn which over the next four years was to be paid in twice-annual supplements to those on unemployment benefits, and the money to be saved by cutting 12,000 public servants……….”

I love a good truth spinner. It’s a shame that the god botherer’s, don’t follow their own, when

Brckbob .. Surely, it’s fair to compare the personal views, of where truth sits in the world view of both men, especially since one man was a leader of a country and the other, aspires to be. History describes the horror that accompanied the first, when the people were lied to. Now tell me truthfully, are you willing to subjugate the citizens of Australia to the whims of a man that holds the same ideals regarding the truth. It might seem like a long bow, but when it comes to the truth, it’s the only thing that we can put faith in.

Kennett was heading for a landslide win in Victoria. I (nearly) fell out with friends over it as I maintained that there were many Victorians that would not vote him back in to power and it would be a very close call. I was right and Steve Bracks became our Premier with the help of two MPs from the country.
For years Kennett was a pariah. Never offered any Directorships of any significance – everything he tried to do failed (buying a radio station, running a golf tournament, President of a football club, etc) He has come into his own in these Abbott times and is commentating and writing for the Herald Sun. Still the same old Jeff saying the same old things but he is still a joke to many.
I feel the same atmosphere this time. People feel powerless because they can’t do much other than wait to vote. Some of my friends are writing (reasonable) letters and texts to the Herald Sun and The Australian that do not get published. The ones that are published are downright nasty and incorrect. Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story ….
Work colleagues, and others I talk to, are very uncomfortable with the blatant media bias and the personal vitriol. There is a element of the ‘aussie fair go’ starting to build. I hope it reaches a crescendo by next Saturday.
Then we can laugh at Rupert and sit back and watch his world slowly disintegrate. LIke a lot of very wealthy men, they keep their wealth, but lose respect and power. Once the power has gone, their raison d’etre goes with it.

VERY well said Kate Rose. Do so hope you are correct in this case as the alternative is just too awful to think about.
I cannot believe just how many voters have lost their ability to know when they are being manipulated & conned by vested interests such as the equally vile Murdoch, Rinehart, IPA & their minions, the Coalition parties, or even care that this is happening. Hopefully, I am being overly pessimistic & many more people still have the ability to use their commonsense. Unfortunately, the numbers of, seemingly sensible, people who mindlessly quote shock jocks’ poison, as if it is the wisdom of the ages, make me wonder at what we have become. Makes my stomach churn.
PS Did anyone else see the video of the Young Liberals who attended a pre-polling somewhere, pretending they represented the Greens & were handing out how-to-vote cards preferencing the Liberals? Turns out what they were doing, while being devious & misleading, wasn’t actually illegal!!! 😯 Their supreme sense of entitlement was astounding & to think they aim to be our political “masters” of the future.

All campaign material must carry the party endorsement.
A few years ago, how to votes for Labor, on a local government election had to be withdrawn because a batch came through without the endorsement.
Unless this lot deemed so above it, they did have a Liberal endorsement even though it was deceiving.

Apparently, Cornie, in this case, an AEC official was spoken to on camera & although he said this was dirty it was legal & he couldn’t do anything about it. There was, at the bottom, in small print naturally, something about it being authorised by the Liberals.
Unsurprisingly, this happened in Howard’s old seat of Bennelong. The cockiness & arrogance of the perpetrators of this incident was mindboggling. Wonder how John Alexander, the current member, will spin it?

In a formal complaint to the Australian Electoral Commission, Mr Danby said the Green how-to-vote cards for his seat of Melbourne Ports – handed out by young women in green T-shirts and caps – misled voters.
The complaint claims the Liberal strategy breached the Electoral Act, which outlaws material “that is likely to mislead or deceive an elector” in relation to casting a vote”.
