WTF?

WTF?

Like most of the voting public, I will be so glad to see an end to the (and I use the term loosely) campaign!  (It is more correctly called a “Propaganda Extravaganza!”)

My wife commented that I will soon start to suffer from high blood pressure, if I’m not already.

She made this observation, as the expletives flew, once more, toward that purveyor of lies and misinformation… The TV.

Even the ABC, infected by the Murdoch pox, quotes the “News” poll as the all seeing aap_9596_29Nov_ClivePalmer_800x600oracle, despite the revelation from Clive Palmer that he, during his tenure at, and as a representative of, the LNP, personally donated to certain pollsters to get the numbers that they wanted and paid for.   WTF?

Now one would rightly assume that a revelation like that would be jumped on with vigour by any self respecting journalists, but obviously there aren’t any of those left, as the only thing that we have heard is… crickets.   😯

This is a terrible indictment on the news media of this country, but this is not the worst example of our investigative journalists gone MIA.

When the Ashbygate saga first came to light, news media were running around like headless chooks reporting every rumour and innuendo; accusing and declaring guilt across over 30 front pages of our illustrious tabloid press.

Yet when Justice Rares kicked the case out, on the grounds that it was an abuse of process, designed primarily to benefit Mal Brough  and the LNP, with a clear intent to bring down a duly elected government; again… Crickets!   WTF?

So, it’s really not hard to disappear into the shady world of conspiracy theorists, with even a cursory glance at the bias displayed by the MSM.   Then you remember that it’s not only the MSM, but the absolute worst of human behaviour in the form of an unprincipled and totally despicable carbuncle on the arse of humanity called the LNP.

Would you buy a used car from any one of these?

Would you buy a used car from any one of these?

But even worse than that is the fact that these reprehensible characters lied cheated and manipulated their way into a position where they could end up being our representatives on the world stage.

Now call me overly sensitive, but I really baulk at the idea of being represented by a morally bankrupt political party that think nothing of lying, with a view to character assassination of our country’s first female PM (who was actually doing a bloody good job in extreme circumstances) , lying, stealing and colluding with unsavoury people for the express purpose of character assassination, with the intent of destroying the life and career, of one of their own… WTF?

And instead of these people being reviled by a disgusted and offended voting public, we are told:

  1. That more people trust Abbott to run the economy… WTF?
  2. That more people trust Abbott to stop the boats… WTF?
  3. That people believe that he (Abbott) will stop the waste…  W..T..F..?
  4. That they can be trusted to, and will, release all their policies, costings and bottom line “WELL” before the election… WTF?
  5. That there will be no surprises under a coalition… WTF?
  6. That he (Abbott) will have a mandate to repeal the carbon price, and the ALP will be committing suicide twice  if they block it… WTF?

Well, WTF are these totally misguided beliefs based on?

  1. The only thing that this belief can be based on is Abbott’s self praise, as when the facts are laid bare, as in Alan Austin’s latest fine article “We really must talk about the Howard and Costello economic disaster.”     there is no doubt that Abbott is either lying, or sadly deluded.    😯
  2. Serious questions hang over a policy (slogan) that states that “We are the only ones with the will to stop the boats.”, when a core plank of their policy is to buy leaky fishing boats… WTF?    And they have an extensive plan for extending the capacity of camps for assessing those that don’t come, as they have stopped the boats?…   WTF?
  3. For a Minister in the most profligate government in our history, and one who has out-spent the previous PM in his expenses, to the tune of $$$$$… WTF?
  4. With the advertising blackout looming, we are still waiting… WTF?
  5. W…T…F…?
  6. Oh… so a mandate is only binding if it’s an LNP mandate, cos I seem to recall that the ALP had a mandate to introduce an ETS which was agreed between Rudd and Turnbull, which not only did Abbott totally ignore, but he actually stabbed Turnbull in the back so that he could renege on the deal… WTF?

So we have the Murdoch pox infecting almost every area of our lives with their totally biased tabloids dictating opinion as news to the rest of the media, which in turn laps it up as if it is the very life blood of their  existence, to the great detriment of their code of ethics, truth and our democracy.

We also have Abbott and the mendacious LNP telling every conceivable lie and misrepresentation, in their efforts to win at any cost.   😯

There are sadly gullible people, right across the nation, who are prepared to vote against their own, and the nations, best interest, on the say so of these blatant liars.

And in general the future of this great nation looks far from secure.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; “Self praise is NO recommendation!”

And the over-riding question is:

WTF?

The GOOSE that will make sure our goose is cooked!

The GOOSE that will make sure our goose is cooked!

Why stop the boats when you can keep their arrival secret?

“Australians may never know how many asylum-seeker boats arrive under a Coalition government, with opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison refusing to release details about boat arrivals without the approval of a three-star general.”

    Truthy,
    great article mate.
I don’t have to be a mystic to know what the future holds.
Abbott will slink into the Lodge.
Shortly thereafter, Hockey will announce to the world that the Budget deficit is much worse than expected, massive cuts will have to take place, and some election promises ? will have to be shelved.
    All because of Labor.
They’ve done it since the year dot.
Can’t remember an election where it hasn’t happened.
Then, out comes the privatisation bandwagon, hospitals, roads etc.
I just can’t follow the voting public.
I look back to the GFC and think it would have been better, politically, to let the country get into strife, then come up with the rescue package.
Aussies never felt it, so to them it never happened.
Overseas friends reckon we are a bunch of morons, not knowing how lucky we were under Rudd and Gillard
I am going to get huge stickers made for my cars.
Don’t blame me, I voted Labor.

Your are dead right mate, it will all be Labor’s fault, including when they loose the much lauded AAA rating 😦

Mate, I’m going for one of those stickers too, 😀 it’s just a shame that the opposite won’t apply to the idiots who would see Abbott as PM, with a bumper sticker saying “Sorry Australia, but I was one of the idiots that believed Abbott!”.

I agree that it was their success with the GFC, that has left them open to the lies and deception that IS the LNP and the MSM. 😯

Know exactly how you feel, Truthie. The glut of nasty misleading National & Liberal ads on TV are driving me crazy. My beloved has never, ever shown any interest in politics before. When I have said anything he has dismissed it as “just politics”. This time, however, he is so incensed at the thought of chief villain Tony Abbott gaining power , he joined the Labor Party, we went to Janelle Saffin’s launch (I shook hands with Sen John Faulkner 🙂 ) & he will be the Labor booth captain at our local polling booth. This is amazing. Hopefully such strong anti-Abbott & LNP feelings are spread far & wide because I doubt he will be on his own in his actions.

As for what could happen if the country’s voters commit political suicide & vote these weasels in doesn’t bear thinking about. One thing for sure is that we probably won’t hear any more of AshbyGate if George Brandis gets the keys to the Attorney-General’s office. Kathy Jackson will be safe as well. The truth will be distorted beyond recognition.

If KR has reached that generation, along with the rest of the communities we just might be able to pip that big headed moron at the post. Well, that is my fervent wish anyway.
Truthie, you have put your frustrations down for all of us to see, only 3 more sleeps to go my friend. Just get your blood pressure checked though, I reckon if there is a negative result for us, the fight will need to start again because there is a lot of exposing of TA & his mob that needs to happen. Shall do. cornie. 🙂 Cannot believe just how much money the Nationals have for their nasty TV ads. Janelle’s people told us the local Nats had $100,000 MORE than she, the sitting member, has for advertising. We can only guess where that money has come from. CSG is a big issue here with right wing conservatives joining up with Nimbin-type “hippies” to protest CSG prospecting on their land. Lock the Gates is a force to be reckoned with, too. It is quite eye-opening to see these groups, who would normally be on either ends of the great political spectrum, protesting loudly together for a united cause. This is why so much money is being poured into misleading Nats ads. We even have the Liberal’s Loughnane’s disgraceful ads maligning Kevin Rudd even though there are no Libs standing for election here. They certainly have plenty of money to throw around. We know where that comes from, don’t we?

You are doing all you can for the cause & I can’t thank you enough. We are mere beginners at this in comparison. 😆

The Nats candidate originally said he was anti-CSG, to garner these votes, but now seems to have changed his mind as he is now extremely, & tellingly, mute on the subject. No doubt on orders from head office &/or his donors. 😆

No doubt he has been told to pull his head in. I have always viewed the alliance between the Nats and Libs as rather one of convenience than of any honest adherence to an ideology. Which leads me to consider Abbott’s frequent use of ‘mandate’ – when have the Libs ever had a true mandate? Not even when Howard had possession of both houses did he truly have the numbers. Without the Nats the Libs are screwed. Yet it is the Nats who repeatedly compromise their ideals.

Abbott is clearly setting up a strategy to inflict regressive action on many of the achievements of the Gillard government, since he will claim by winning an election he has license to literally dictate.

    Very Important Getup Message

I’m just off the phone after dozens of radio interviews. Our member-funded ad calling out Murdoch’s bias is causing quite a fuss.

Already, 830,000 people have seen the ad on air or online — but now all three major TV networks are pulling it off air and refusing to run it.1. Some of the network representatives told us directly: they’re not running the ad because they don’t want to criticise Rupert Murdoch.

We’ve filed an official complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, but we can’t wait for a ruling to take our next step. We have to get this message out, right now. So if the commercial channels are slamming the door we’ll just go around them — and go bigger.

If our proposed TV ads had gone through, we would have reached an additional 500,000 TV viewers by the election. But if each of us simply shares this video on Facebook, Twitter and over email we can shatter that number. Let’s work together to reach 750,000 views online before the election.

Regardless of all spin in the media and blogs, I still think Rudd will be firmly defeated by Murdoch.

With the election in 3 days time, I’m 50:50 whether to NOT vote for Abbott, or NOT vote for Rudd.

Australia’s future is stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The election will solve very little, but it will sharpen our enthusiasm for a nice cold beer.

And that’s fine, Joy, that’s what a democracy is all about, an entitlement to have our own opinions and express them without fear. If you feel Rudd can defeat Murdoch, then that’s fine by me.

Surely Murdoch, a foreign citizen, is not actually standing as a candidate in this coming election, cartoonmick? His proxy Abbott is though & I shall endeavour to do my very best to NOT aid his side of politics in any way, shape or form, to attain government. This means no longer putting Greens above the line in the senate voting table cloth. It will be 1 for Labor. I shall fill out the green ballot paper, with due care, placing the Nats candidate last with his fellow travellers just above him.

Mate, I have to say that I think you will find that if the election goes Abbott’s way, then you are right in as far as the election will solve nothing, as the chances are we will end up back at the polls within a year or so 😯 and although it won’t solve anything, it will certainly cause plenty of problems.

And to be honest, I would rather a future that included the NBN, which I would have thought was one thing that you would appreciate, and a future that didn’t include an almost certain recession as we have seen around the globe with like minded governments of Abbott’s ilk.

If in all conscience you really can’t vote for either party, I would urge you to at least vote useing your preferences to put the LNP below the ALP, as you only have to read any of Alan Austin’s articles to see that Abbott and Hockey should not be left in charge of a chook raffle, much less our economy. 😯

They are proven liars and cheats, and will not do what’s best for this country, but just pay back Murdoch et al for their support, to the detriment of this country and its citizenry. 😦

      Cheers ;grin:

Now, Mr Truth Seeker, this is just between you and me, so please don’t tell anyone else…… * any boxes I tick next Saturday will not do anything at all in promoting Murdocks position in this power struggle * Please keep this to yourself.

Incidentally, I try to be equal in hitting both sides with my political cartoons.

It’s an area where I endeavour to be open minded and see opportunity wherever it exists.

I think the short answer is that Hockey, like Abbott is gutless, and have a deep contempt for the citizenry of this great country 😯

It is the height of arrogance to not put yourself up for public scrutiny, as Abbott refuses to do when invited to QandA, and also in any forum other than those strictly controlled by his puppet master Murdoch. 👿

They think that by making themselves small targets and just repeating their lies, they will steal the election win while nobody is looking. 😯

Leigh Sales was terrible tonight in the way she came straight out on the attack on Rudd. Going negative and all that.

I do wish they had dropped the 70 bill figure. I know it came from Eleventy but it was fact checked as not so big anyway, but even so the costing they released are crap they don’t show the detail they don’t show the assumptions made. They are cutting the school kids bonus and all that and foreign aid and Joe sat there maintaining the whole budget emergency line tonight but somehow we can still give money to millionaires to have babies but we can’t help by text books.
