So, this is adult government?

So, this is adult government?

Can people be this stupid Nyahahahahahaha.

Can people be this stupid Nyahahahahahaha.

For a man who has just had the longest dummy spit in Australian political history, to claim that he was going to provide “Adult” government, was, I thought, a bit of a long bow to draw.

In fact, I thought it was a completely ludicrous claim.   😯

But then there were so many ludicrous claims being made by the LNP through the last few weeks of the election campaign, not to mention the three years of dummy spitting, prior to the campaign, that it seemed to get somewhat lost in the midst of the torent of BS that was constantly gushing from the LNP ranks.

So, what are the connotations of  “Adult” government?

Well, the word “adult” in this context implies;

  1. Grown up.

    The leader of "Adult" government?

    The leader of “Adult” government?

  2. Honest.
  3. Transparent.
  4. Accountable.
  5. Responsible.
  6. Reliable.
  7. Fair.
  8. Reasonable.

And with less than four weeks since the election, what have we seen from this “adult” government?

  1. Gloating, and spiteful and irrational sackings = hardly “Grown up?
  2. An election win, based on a campaign filled with lies, spin and misinformation, and resulting in one of the most dishonest governments this country has ever seen, led by a consummate liar… Definitely NOT honest!
  3. In stark contrast to his three years as LOTO, where he would call a presser for the opening of an envelope, we have seen one of the most concerted efforts to restrict press and media access to MPs; an effort that would seem to be at odds with Abbott’s  “Crystal Clear” mantra prior to the election… No transparency there?
  4. With the first act of the incoming Attorney General (George Brandis), being to get Peta Credlin off her DUI charge, and the latest revelations about Brandis and Joyce claiming expenses for a trip to a shock jock mates wedding, which Brandis is still calling a legitimate claim, along with the LNP involvement in the Ashby and Thomson cases, Abbott’s own slush fund affair etc  etc, accountability doesn’t appear to be a priority.
  5. The points already raised WRT Brandis, clearly show that the only level of responsibility that will be afforded, will be towards the previous government being responsible for causing the LNP to start breaking promises and doing backflips.
  6. We all know that we can rely on Tony Abbott and the LNP to tell lies, spin information with a view to mislead, hide information and the truth, while big business can rely on him to further their agendas and income stream, to the detriment of the rest.    So reliable?
  7. Fairness has never been a part of the LNP, it’s just NOT in their DNA, and workchoices was a classic example, but we have a more relevant example in Brnadis, who will not only trash fairness, but also has already started trashing justice as well.
  8. To have good international and domestic, adult relationships, you have to be involved in reasonable discourse and engagement, and to form reasoned arguments based on good policy and understanding of the relevant issues founded on the best available information.         Listening to your own “experts”, engaged to only tell you what you want to hear, while dismissing the vast majority of “real” experts who tell you things you don’t want to hear, is far from being “reasonable”, or for that matter… Adult?

The truth is that with just over three weeks since the election, what we have seen  so far of Tony Abbott’s “Adult” government, is more aptly described as   “Adulterous” government.

Adulterers are generally;

A discrete "Adult" Greeting

A discreet “Adult” Greeting

  1. Inherently dishonest.
  2. Always trying to hide the truth.
  3. Prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to cover their own transgressions
  4. Prepared to do shady and unsavoury deals to achieve their goals.
  5. prepared to do and say anything to cover their own arses.
  6. Are morally challenged.
  7. Ego driven.
  8. Rarely responsible, preferring to blame someone else for their mistakes and shortcomings (Including their victims).
  9. The sort of people who, more often than not, end up hurting the vulnerable and innocent.

So, adult or adulterous?

Would you buy a used car from any one of these?

Would you buy a used car from any one of these?

Tony Abbott would have us believe that he is delivering Adult government.

I would suggest that what we are getting is NOT.

“So, this is ‘Adult’ government? ….  Mmmmm?   😉

And adulterers love to parade their spouse and children – to pretend – everything is alright.

To the conservative voter, the daughters-in-white pics were an example of everything back to normal:

Loving father/husband in complete control of the girls/women – those picture were not meant to convey anything more than a traditional ‘father knows bets’ image.

Excellent work as always Truthie, thanks for your tireless work keeping us sane in this increasingly insane world, just wish tiny tones would piss off back to his own parallel world and leave this one alone… Every time he said ‘adult government’ for some strange reason I heard ‘a dolt government’, guess I need to have my ears seen to?

Put Brickbob’s drinks on my tab for that effort, gave me a great big laugh which was much needed this arvo, a BIG thank you for that Bob!

I think that the problem lies in the LNP’s perception of “Adult”, as they have spent the last three years playing spoilt brat politics, and think that that approach is appropriate 😯

As I pointed out in an earlier post, “Self praise is no recommendation.” and it’s a lesson that the LNP have never learnt 😦

It was the same with their claim that minority government was a “Failed experiment”, at which point I said, if that’s a failed experiment, then we should have more failures! 😯

      They really are idiots! 😯

      Cheers 😀

In truth they are not idiots. They are insecure and to be felt sorry for. Holding dogmatic views is a way of protecting their own self image. Any change in belief, environment or circumstance is a threat to the status quo that they preserve for their own security. Any idea or person who holds a differing opinion is to be resisted for self protection. Any change in their own thinking is a chink in the armour of their own self image. Many are intelligent but self protection is paramount. Part of this self protection is an exaggerated sense of self importance and the superiority of their beliefs.
There is a fair amount of research into workplace psychopathy looking at high achievers. There is some correlation between the two as they are driven to higher levels of self protection to further reinforce their self image.. .

Gilly, I agree with what you say, 😉 but I don’t think that that precludes them from being idiots 😀

I have known many intelligent and wealthy people who are still idiots, and I have known many successful small business owners that, knowing full well that they and the country will be better off under an ALP government, still vote LNP. To my mind they are idiots 😯

And to stick dogmatically to an ideological position, despite all the expert evidence saying that it is a wrong position, also makes them idiots, IMHO. 😀

But then there have been studies that show that conservatives are not generally as smart as progressives 😯

But then I also think that they think the same about us 😯 Which also proves that they are idiots 😀

But truthie, Labor was so, um, so, er, confused, so wayward, how could we vote for them? True, they gave us some of the most important policies and programs we have ever seen in this country (NDIS, NBN, Gonski) but they ‘looked’ so bad. And Rupert told me that was a bad look, and therefore I shouldn’t vote for them. Isn’t that logical? Isn’t that the way it works?

As “they” say, perception is everything, 😯 so we should all dismiss truth and facts for the sake of believing what an old, disgusting, senile US citizen tells us.

It was certainly the way Murdoch hoped it would work 😯 and sadly it did work for some, but not on the scale that he wanted 😀

The hypocrisy of Brandis pursuing Slipper and Thomsonfor the illegal use of credit cards, when he had no compunction in using his own for a very suspicious purpose. How much time would Michael Smith have at his wedding to plot and scheme with Brandis. Mind you Brandis would not let any opportunity escape to vilify Labor if it was at all possible. Joyce and Brandis should be known by the company they keep. Why do the words “lie, dogs and fleas” come to mind?

Yes I have to admit that I was a tad miffed at the lack of direct comparison between him and Slipper in the MSM, as there are some very clear comparisons to be made there 😦

Brandis is the epitome of all that is rotten about the LNP, and should be brought to account for his involvement in all those matters, and probably a lot more besides. 😯

As to Brandis. Strange that the LNP boasts…. “Private is in our DNA” …. yet they are masters at dipping into public finances to maintain their ‘eliteness’ & to fund their perks & rorts!

Tony Abbott: “Support for people who want to get ahead it is our raison d’etre.
“I mean, that is why we exist as a political movement, to give more support and encouragement to people who want to get ahead and whether it’s independent schools, whether it’s private superannuation, whether it’s private health insurance, we want to support policies that support them.”

Yes they are full of contradictions, like Abbott saying stop the waste, while claiming his volunteer work and charity rides on the expense account? 😯

Brandis thinking that a wedding is a legitimate claim, is symptomatic of a wider belief of entitlement. 🙄

The one thing that is definitely in their DNA, is dishonesty 😦

And of course there’s the PPL. I was in a phone hook-up with Bill Shorten this evening and one of the questions was in regard to his stance on Abbott’s PPL.

I was a bit taken aback by his response – along the lines of “I don’t see it as my job to save the Lib’s budget bottom line, so maybe we should pass it.”

I’m thinking, “Fuck off, that’s my tax dollars you’re talking about!”
