Abbott PM… I still feel violated.

Abbott PM… I still feel violated.Abbott1+

I knew that it would be difficult to accept an LNP government, and more so Abbott as PM, who’s approach to government “for all” seems to based  on the old kids rhyme “We’re the kings of the castle and you’re the dirty rascal”   😛    Don’t you just love “adult (A dolt)” government   🙄

But after a relatively Abbott free Christmas and new year, I still found myself feeling embarrassed, offended and yes… violated, by his appearance when he delivered his “New year speech”.   😯

I’m afraid that the speech was irrelevant, not so much because of what he said, but because of who was giving it.   😦

Now you may say that that’s a bit unfair (though I doubt most here would), but you see, when Abbott fronts a presser, the one thing that we know for sure, is that he deliberately misleads and LIES!

With that in mind, everything that he says is coloured by that knowledge, so if he said something like… “We will provide $10 million for disaster relief”, all I can think is, ‘So where are the $40 million in hidden cuts coming from so that you can look like you really give a damn?’…  Oh cynical me.   😯

The problem, I realised, is that I see the LNP… government (gag) as totally illegitimate, as they gained the win by deception; by subverting our democracy for the sake of “the end justifies the means”, or “whatever it takes”.   👿

Further, I cannot respect a government or PM, or the decisions that they make, when they are so inherently dishonest and so blatantly self serving.

So I do feel offended that, for lying to the electorate, talking down the economy, selling out our democracy etc   etc, he was rewarded with the job that he wanted, not for any altruistic agenda, or the good of the country, but purely for the fulfilment of his own political ambitions.

And I also feel sad and embarrassed that so many Aussies were deceived, and in just three months the man that deceived us has trashed our international reputation and made us a laughingstock on;

  • Climate change, taking us from a world leader to a third world backwater.
  • Asylum Seeker policy.
  • Foreign affairs.
  • Economics.

To name just a few examples.

And now, as we face a new year, and the first full year of fascist rule from a truly cringe worthy bunch of unrepresentative swill (That is; unrepresentative of Australia, and  our culture of a fair go for all etc, but well representative of international interests and corporations   😯   ), that will sell us out to the highest bidder.Meerkats +3+

This mob definitely do NOT represent me or my view of our country and what it needs, to be a first world country in the 21st century, and I would venture to suggest that many others feel the same.

I do not use the word “Violated” lightly, and after the initial shock of the realisation that we now have Abbott, allegedly, running the joint, and the consequent fear for our nation and its future, I thought that the outrage and sense of violation would subside, and be replaced by a dogged determination to fix it.

Well I have to say that the dogged determination did arrive, and has been reinforced almost daily by the ineptitude of this LNP mob,  but the longer they continues on their merry, corporate and dysfunctional way,  the more embarrassed, frustrated and angry I get, and the more I can say that morally, emotionally and culturally, Mr Abbott PM… I still feel violated!

Id still like to find him crossing the road in front of my ute, I would not miss. “sorry officer I had a sneezing fit” Australia’s problem solved. I’d prefer seeing him tossed out(shortest serving PM ever!) after the DD he will have to call when he doesn’t win a single WA senate seat, even the round mound of moronic sound Palmer will be no use to him. Even after Abbott brought his vote by approving his new Galilee basin coal mine for him.

  2. Yup Truthy, violation is the feeling we all have concerning Murdoch/Abbott and the rest of the LNP,
Talk about being on the same page, earlier this morning I posted a comment on IA that ended
:”So after my analysis of propaganda vs lies as to Murdoch/LNP I cannot separate the two and therefore conclude the the LNP is enabling Murdoch to further his lying propaganda to be mouthed by the LNP/IPA and all Neo Conservatives who combined are creating Australia`s first Corporate Fascist State.”.
    Cheers for this M8 🙂

For many months before the election, I said I was not happy about his ability to (among other things) represent Australia on the international stage. To date, my fears have been justified.

The next few years are looking glum for Australia’s mid to lower class, as there will be hundreds of bad decisions which will put them further down the food chain.

Good political decisions are becoming rare.

    Does this cartoon depict the future ? ? ? (I hope not !!) . . . . .

Maybe Abbott is nuts. I think he is. What does one call those who allowed themselves to be conned, and vote for him.

Abbott said today, the jury is still out on him as PM. he also sees himself ready to govern. Did not seem concerned with poor polls.

Now our FM has come up with a wonderful suggestion, to claim back the money, the government spent on that Green Peace radio operator, from Tasmania. Seems she did not appreciate his criticism of her.

My hope was that if they won the election we would have some sensible “adult” government for a short term before Labor was re-elected to carry on its reform agenda.
Unfortunately we have a bunch of idiot school children in charge and an opposition that is operating in deafening silence.
BTW, Abbott was surfing in Sydney today and just happened to be near the Channel 10 (Murdoch)
Breakfast TV site. Guess who was interviewed? And the young lady interviewing him almost did a Margie and stuck her tongue in his ear.

Doctorrob, mate my understanding is that supply can still be blocked, but the best option would be for Abbott to call a DD cos he can’t get his own way 😉 and at this stage, it’s probably the most likely scenario if WA produces the LNP nightmare that I for one am hoping for 😯

Time is slowly vanishing for a DD and then it would be dependent on the WA senate result.
Abbott would go for a DD if he was sure of the outcome of WA.
If Abbott can hang out for a bit and the WA senate is in sight, he could pull it off
He has to be blocked twice, then go to the GG then writs issued ,if we were to stand a chance with a friendly Senate it would have to be this Senate
            Don’t think he’ll bother.

    I don’t see Abbott risking a DD.
Labor and Greens need to block supply using the reason to protect Australia from the ISDS of the TTP that Abbott wants to allow.
    It is the only way.
However this will not happen unless the public start having demonstrations and protests so that the opposition knows they have support for such a move.
We can dream otherwise or we can band together and organise a movement.
Also how does one solve the narrowing columns problem?

Blocking supply might seem an answer. It was dirty politics when Fraser used it. Still is.

So much so, that Fraser changed the rules, supported by all, ensuring it could not occur again.

I only have slight memories of what happened, maybe someone else knows more. Maybe I am wrong.

At the end of the day, I do not believe that will be needed. This government will manage to bring down themselves.

Pressure from the public, will save the day.

Same as for DD. Not feasible at this time, even if he manages one trigger. I cannot see any chance of one before the end of next year. This government will quickly become dysfunctional in the meantime.

Of course if the senate stays the same as it is now, Abbott will get his legislation through. Will cause more problems for Abbott, than it solves.

In fact will not be popular with the public, and I suspect many small businesses.

We are in for an interesting year politically. One we have not seen since Whitlam’s years.

Fed up, I’m led to believe that blocking supply can still be done, but I’m not sure what’s involved.

Fraser did try to change the rules, but it was a set of circumstances brought about by the appointment of , from memory, and I could be wrong, senator Field from QLD to replace a retiring, or deceased Labor senator, and again from memory, a similar situation in Vic to give Fraser the numbers.

But then it was 1975 😯

And we are definitely in for an interesting year 😉

If a substantial bill gets through the house, and is blocked by the Senate, all they need do, is resubmit the same bill in its exact form or with only minor modification after 30 days.
The Senate can delay by sending it off to committees, debate etc to drag it out. if it is rejected again The PM can go to the GG and as for a dissolution of Parliament and then the writs are served for a new election.
Dangerous though, as the election must be for both houses Reps and Senate.
This would through the Senate right out of kilter as they serve fixed 6 year terms.
        Could be awful messy.
The longer he goes, depending on the upcoming State elections, the more unlikely he would be to force the issue.
His honeymoon period is well and truly over.

A double dissolution held before 1 July 2014 would also give rise to timing problems in relation to subsequent elections. Section 13 of the Constitution provides that after a double dissolution, the terms of Senators are dated back to the previous 1 July (i.e. 1 July 2013). The consequence would be that the next half-Senate election would have to be held some time in the 12 months before 30 June 2016. Assuming that an Abbott Government won a further term in office at a double dissolution held in, say, April 2014, it would need to go to the polls again in two years, if it were to hold the next half-Senate election with a general election. Alternatively, it would have to face a separate half-Senate election after being in office for two years, which like a by-election would probably result in some anti-government expressions of voter discontent. Neither outcome is terribly good for a Coalition Government.

It’s no problem you didn’t reply straight away. I hope you had a good time at your wifes birthday party. Best to keep them going till after midnight that way there can be no arguement who cleans up!
It seems the government does not need tge senate to sign up to free trafe agreements. Am I wrong?
Also the narrowing columns problem is a problem on mobile devices. It affects your blog because you have the reply feature to other peoples posts. Since you have an account with WordPress perhaps you could notify them of the problem. I am not using the App and don’t really want to although the problem may not occur there.
Also the fact that one has to click the Post Comment box twice is a good idea as it avoids sending by mistake but it must confuse a few new users.
