I’ll see your GFC , and raise you a homegrown recession!
For the benefit of this post, I was going to rename Abbott… Nero, but the truth is that whereas Nero fiddled while Rome burned; while parts of Victoria and South Australia burned, our illustrious (and I use the term loosely) leader wasn’t playing “the fiddle”, although some would argue strongly that he’s always “on the fiddle”, instead he was MIA. 😯
Now I’m sure that it was very nice, skiing in France, while areas across the country were suffering the devastation of heat-waves and severe bushfire conditions. But for someone who lied, cheated and practiced “Whatever it takes” to get the top job, and who appears to have spent more time on holidays, since taking up his new position, than he has actually working, one would think that he would at least put in an appearance for the sake of showing those suffering citizenry, that their PM cares… Or maybe not? 😉
And while Abbott was off the radar (pardon the pun);
- The navy’s sat-navs crapped themselves, which is the only viable explanation,
otherwise that annoying little voice would have been echoing around the bridges, of our warships, saying “Perform a “U” turn… When safe to do so.”, instead of sending our warships into Indonesian waters, and violating their sovereignty. And all that despite Morrison’s assurances that it could never happen … WTF?
- Our relationships in the region continued to deteriorate, with the warning that Rudd
gave, now ringing in our ears, despite the ridicule to which he was subjected by Julie “Medusa” Bishop, our new alleged FM. Remembering that she brought into question his mental health, after he claimed that the LNP policies (?) could damage our relations and cause heightened tensions and possible conflict. And now we have seen our relationship damaged, heighten tensions and an ex indonesian military commander stating that their turn-backs policy could end up causing a naval confrontation, one has to wonder, ‘who’s mental health should be questioned Ms Bishop?’
- We have allegations persisting, of Australian personnel being involved in the bad treatment of asylum seekers, which looks even worse in the context of the lack of transparency displayed by this mob.
And that’s just some of the issues that need attention by a PM, apart from the aforementioned support for disaster victims, but when Abbott did finally surface, it was by way of a prerecorded message about why he was going to the Davos economic forum, in Switzerland.
Aside from the obvious questions that we would all like answered, the question in my mind is WTF can Abbott tell anyone about running an economy (Except how to run it into the ground 😯 ) when he;
- Opposed every measure that kept us from the GFC.
- Spent years talking down an economy that was the envy of the world.
- Has done everything he can to destroy the legacy of a government who was recognised around the world as great fiscal managers.
- Increased the debt and deficit, despite his alarmist rhetoric about the government credit card and escalating debt.
The chances are that as Abbott addresses the forum, and later gives his G20, chair address, he will be seen for the rank amateur that he is, with many shaking their heads in utter disbelief at the fact that a progressive country like Australia, with everything going for it, should hand the reins to the “Blunder from Down-under”, and his sad bunch of political and economic incompetents and misfits.
Now I’ve made my feelings known about what I think of Abbott and the illegitimacy of his LNP Mob 😯 (I struggle to call them a government). I also struggle to show any respect to Abbott or his honourable (Gag… vomit… gag ) MP’s, as they are definitely not “Honourable” and have not yet done anything to earn respect… in fact, to the contrary, they have done everything to lose the respect of decent, honest people.
And now the Abbott’s strutting the world stage, supposedly representing us. 😦 stating that Australia is “under new management”, and “Open for business”. W…T…F…?
The thing that Abbott doesn’t understand, is that the world at large thought, contrary to what the LNP would have us believe, that the Rudd/Gillard governments were doing a bloody good job, and we didn’t need “New management”, and what’s more, they were never under any delusion that Australia was anything but… “Open for business!”
He also forgets that many of the economic leaders and experts that he’ll be addressing are associated with the IMF, who recently released a report saying that Howard’s government, the one that Abbott was a minister in, was the most profligate in 200 years.
They would also be aware of the great record of, and the many accolades given to, the previous government for their economic management.
So Tony, you already made an arse of yourself with the Washington Post gaffe, and the numerous diplomatic stuff ups, and now, the only thing that you can say to the worlds economic leaders and the G20 with any credibility at all is;
I’ll see your GFC, and raise you a homegrown recession!
