Lies, stuff ups, broken promises and international embarrassment… What’s not to like?

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?

WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE?

So, News Poll and Nielsen are at it again.   😯

Isn’t it amazing that just as things start to look really bad for the Abbott and his mendacious mob, along come The Murdoch and Fairfax polls telling us that Abbott’s alleged government is doing just fine!   😉

The question is; “What, if anything, has changed to make the losses in the Morgan and other pollsters, polls, reverse for this latest round?”

The thing is that they are telling us that there has been a 4% swing to the LNP, and a corresponding swing against the ALP in the last few weeks.   And in that time we have seen;

  • The start of parliament for the year, with Abbott and other LNP MP’s misleadingBronny1 parliament which, for politicians, should be a sackable offence (even for a PM!), but along with the lying LNP is the worst speaker this country has ever seen, who is more than happy to continue to trash any credibility the office of speaker has left.
  • More broken promises.
  • More lies.
  • More obfuscation.
  • More secrecy.
  • More extreme weather events around the world, reconfirming in the minds of all, but the LNP and their CC denier mates, that Climate Change is not only a clear and present danger, but is on a par with terrorism, as the two biggest threats that the world faces, which means even more embarrassment for Australia.   😦
  • A further eroding of relations with our biggest neighbour.
  • More world wide recognition of the fact that we have a complete “KNOB” running the joint, still fully supported by the biggest bunch of “Born to rule” incompetents, and the majority of the Australian MSM.   👿

That’s just a small snapshot of the problems and issues, that have plagued this incompetent, unrepresentative and just plain BAD government.

Now many commentators are concentrating their focus on Abbott’s union bashing and Shorten’s fall in support as the main reason, ignoring the fact that Abbott’s approval also dropped 4%.

And far be it for me to cast aspersions on at least that part of these esteemed   😉  commentators assertions, but when taking a cursory glance at the last five months, and in particular, since parliament first sat (in Dec), it would be damned near impossible for them to find any other valid reasons for more people choosing to support this alleged government.

Yes, there are the rednecks, but other than new ones that couldn’t previously vote, IMHO there would be very few that are still swinging voters, having already declared their hands for Abbott and his gung-ho  AS policy (?).

I also wonder how many of those “Swinging” voters live, or have family, in Victoria or SA, who will be directly or indirectly affected by the loss of Holden and Toyota, and associated industries?

Even taking into account the union bashing and the ALP leadership, these two latest polls lead us directly to the conclusion that for at least some Australian’s, their attitude is:

Lies, stuff ups, broken promises and international embarrassment… What’s not to like?

Chrissyfit2

Just as an aside, it was interesting this morning to see some farmers (?) crediting Abbott with bringing rain to the outback… 😯   what they don’t realise is that it wasn’t really rain, but the collective tears of those of us who love this country, and know what its future faces under Abbott’s tenure, that follows him everywhere.   😦

I`ll tell you what has changed Truthy and that is Boring Bill has come out and proven what a handicap he is.
He was nominated for events in Sept,Oct,Nov and Dec and his trainers scratched him without an excuse other than he was spelled to a paddock for Dec and Jan.
But hey has was nominated for running in Jan and in mid Feb and he finally fronts the starters gate and as usual bungled the start. 😡
Meanwhile the real government News Ltd is running a fine front running race with their entire Abbott winning every one horse race he enters 😡 .

Ive no problem with boring Bill, means he is normal and level headed, not a show pony media tart like Kevin Rudd and now Tony Abbott. Last thing the ALP needs is a media tart, look what happen last time.

Fact is Gillard was the last normal person we have had as PM, but she was crucified by the MSM as we know.

I have come to the conclusion until the current MSM goes in the bin we will not get a decent PM, whether we got Albo or Shorten as OL it wouldn’t matter, as they always back the biggest twat who is always willing to show pony infront of the camera, but in reality this shows how insecure they really are, which ultimately really is unsuitable for leadership roles.

So for now we got a massive twat stuffing up our future and embarrassing us overseas whilst our MSM backs him unquestionably.

As I have said in a number of earlier posts, the main problem with Shorten is his baggage, which they (the LNP and the MSM) are already tying to use against him, and will undoubtedly become a millstone around the necks of the ALP, as the next election looms, whereas Albo is considered a “Clean Skin”, and well respected across the party.

I agree about Gillard, and also that the current iteration of the MSM, must go, as they are complicit to the point of treason IMHO, and Murdoch first. 😀

Nick, there is also the issue of his role in the demise of Rudd, and support for Gillard, then his stabbing Gillard in the back to help reinstate Rudd, then back room deals to secure the leadership , despite 60% of the rank and file voting for Albo. 😡

And make no mistake, given half a chance Abbott and Murdoch will use every bit of it to remind the voters of what a self motivated back stabber and corrupt unionist he was. 😯 Those alone stand to derail every attempt the ALP make to hold them to account. 😦

They would definitely try, but Albo just doesn’t have the baggage that Shorten does! 😯

Nick, rightly or wrongly, I agree entirely with your comments – leave the Shorten bashing and the lack of substantial investigating into the LNP to the MSM. Maybe a small consolation at the moment but at least we have online reporting such as the absolutely wonderful IA and others and this keeps me sane.

BTW I actually voted for Alb, precisely because of Shorten’s background, but I can’t see the point of continuing publicly to bash Shorten, privately among friends or directly to the ALP, in IMO, would have more benefit.

Another thing that helps me is my 22yo grandson who claims he and his mates are socialists and read articles on IA. In fact we were enlightening his mum, my daughter, and her partner as to what is really going on in politics now and they were extremely shocked, being that they don’t usually take any interest.

However at the completely opposite end of the scale is one of my other grandsons who is an officer in the navy, which I think speaks for itself. This has completely changed his views away from Labor. My son fortunately is into Facebook and pulls this grandson up on his sometimes outrageous comments.

All I have said may not be enough at present but who knows what the future brings with continuos communication.

Sadly, with 60% R&F support for Albo, the parliamentary party showed that they don’t really give a toss what the R&F think or want, and although I agree that airing more dirty washing isn’t helpful, the truth is that bashing Shorten, will become the LNP’s and MSM’s national pass-time, and it’s already started, utilising the aforementioned “Baggage”. 😦

I have only really started to take a serious interest in politics since the Iraq fiasco and only became a member of ALP when Gillard was getting mercifully crucified by the MSM and LNP, it was the only way I thought that I could help. I have spent my lifetime involved in this.
The reason the Opposition ?ALP have got to the stage they are now is the rank and file never spoke out, allowed the Right takeover , and allowed the rank and file input into the processes, from the branches, preselection etc to be eased way from them .
I have spoken out in and out of the ALP from 45 + years.
I refuse to sit back, say nothing and allow them to vanish into history, and over the past decade that’s whats happened.
Soon, South Australia and Tasmania will move over to LNP hands and on the amount of fight back coming from this lame Opposition under Shorten, Abbott will be there for a long time.

Given the selective approach to reporting that the tabloid media uses – why just protest against the government? – take our outrage to the media. Sure, they delete us from internet blogs – but that doesn’t have to prevent us writing full letters of complaint, nor writing slogans for upcoming MarchinMarch banners – simple ones like “If you don’t see this in the news – ask why?”. Funny thing… about two weeks ago, I was seriously thinking that there should be some heavy duty, public protests organised specifically against all of Murdoch’s interests in this country? 😯

Put the pressure back on Murdoch, and you will guarantee coverage by their rivals, Fairfax, which might in-turn force the hands of the other media outlets 😉

It would also, almost certainly, force Abbott and the full force of the LNP to come to his defence. 😯

      WRT a poster, maybe:
“Why does Murdoch, News LTD & Fox News LIE to support Abbott’s LIES?”

      That covers most bases 😀

Sydney — Rupert Murdoch’s Australian operations pocketed an Aus$882 million (US$800 million) tax rebate from the new conservative government, reports said Monday, blowing a major hole in the country’s budget.

The massive payout to News Corp. — one of the largest ever made by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) — related to complex shuffling of assets through local and overseas businesses in 1989 that netted the company a Aus$2 billion tax deduction, according to The Australian Financial Review.

According to the AFR, the payout was a significant element of the Aus$17 billion spending blowout unveiled by the new government in December.

Then-prime minister Kevin Rudd claimed Murdoch was agitating against Labor in exchange for concessions from the conservatives, who went on to win power in September 2013, the AFR said.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott refused to comment on the allegations Monday, saying the payout “is something which is news to me and I’ll have to take that one on notice”.

The ATO would not speak about the News Corp case but said it followed strict procedures when deciding whether to lodge an appeal and sought “external legal counsel opinion on the prospects of success”.

“Careful consideration is given to a range of factors, including the costs to all parties of proceeding and the importance of the particular case to clarifying the law for the benefit of the wider community,” an ATO spokesman told AFP.

Other major spending included an Aus$8.8 billion cash injection to the central bank and Aus$1.2 billion for a government’s military-led crackdown on people-smugglers.

Murdoch’s News Corp is the dominant media player in his native Australia, controlling 70 percent of capital city newspaper circulation. The firm also has significant online and television assets.

If we want to get our message out I would suggest small scale protest demonstrations on a continuous basis.
They could be held in places that a lot of people congregate, like shopping centres or busy parks.
Even half a dozen people with placards and handing out information would be enough to get the message out.
The key is to ensure it is an ongoing demonstration over many months, preferably longer. People could volunteer their time even if it was only a few hours.
With hundreds of these protests across the country it will be impossible to ignore.
I truely believe this would work.

Hi Orangefox, 😀 and thanks for your comments 😎

Yes, but the only polls that I give any credibility to are the Morgan polls, the rest are pretty much self serving IMHO 😉

A new party wouldn’t be be bad, but there’s a lot of time and money involved in setting it up, and as Palmer found out, you need at least a couple of terms to get established 😦 but I still think that we are better off fixing the one we have, starting from the top down. 😯

I think it will be almost impossible for SA and Vic at least, to avoid some sort of recession, even if it is restricted to those states, 😦

WRT the narrowing columns, I’ll look into it, but I think it’s just the way the theme deals with the number of replies. 😉 I can reduce it by restricting the number of replies to six or so. 😦 I must admit that it annoys me too, so I’ll leave it up to others to let me know if they wan’t me to reduce the replies 😀

      Cheers 😀

Why not have the reply addressed:

          type your reply here

That way you would only need one indent to signify any number of replies to the comment (and replies to the replies). GA does it like that except they don’t include the time so when there’s a lot of replies it can get a bit hard to follow the thread.

The “Leave a Reply” at the end of each page really should say “Leave a Comment”.
Which can be a reply if necessary, specially if you want to reply to someone a long way back.

BTW, sorry I used the “r” word so many times, I think I’ve got the trots.

    Truthie,
Regards to the narrowing columns the effect seems to be worse while viewing the mobile site. Replies to replies to replies can end up being one character wide and then nothing. Also one has to scroll back up to the top of the page to get to the comment box as there is no comment box available at the bottom accept to reply to the last comment. I think I will use the full site view in the future and that will solve the problem. Also The Drum has a maximum of four columns for responses to avoid the problem. The problem with The Drum’s layout is that oftem the replies to the replies to the replies end up taking over from the main comment column and other more recent comments get pushed way down the page, and since posters want to be seen on the top they tend to post in the side columns.
Which just made me think of an idea. If they had a hundred columns nearly everone could be on top! Not real practical I agree.

By the way what do you think of the small protest idea?

Mate thanks for that, I’ll have to think about going back to only five or six replies and see how that goes? 😉

I very rarely use my phone (which is Android), so I haven’t come across the problem, but I know a lot use phones or tablets, so I’ll certainly see if I can fix it 😀

      Cheers 😀

In my view, tabloids – and the media in general – are as believable, trustworthy and honest as politicians.

As for ‘climate change’, one really ought to use the correct, scientific term for it, as verified by Wikipedia, which is ‘Climate Engineering’ (and ‘Weather Warfare’, also verifiable on Wikipedia) because ‘climate change’ is a media-generated term designed to keep the general populace stupid, gullible, and feeling guilty about our very existence.

As for politicians – where’s the honour and dignity? Where is there anything to look up to and respect anymore?
