The new Sunshine Coast private hospital was fast tracked, so as to provide badly needed facilities, that were supposed to be available for the public system, until the new public hospital, next door, can be built. 😉
But now it appears that at least some of the specialists rooms on the lower level have had to be closed, along with one of the multi story car parks, due to the fact that even though it has only just been finished and opened, parts of the main structures are… well… sinking! 😯
That’s right, the brand new, state of the art private hospital is already showing tide lines around some of the office walls on the lower level, because someone stuffed up.
Now the problem is that the whole area is reclaimed swamp land, only a metre or so above sea level, and the huge concrete piles that we watched them drive into the ground, for months on end, were obviously not long enough. 😯
So our fine public teaching hospital will need to be either re-engineered, or alternatively, they could wait until the private hospital stops sinking, and then use that as the foundation for the public facility 😀
But for now, it wont only be your diagnosis that gives you that sinking feeling, cos;
QLD’s newest state of the art Hospital also gives that sinking feeling!
