When only the “Truth” will do!

When only the “Truth” will do!

When is a lie, not a lie?

Well apparently when it’s an Abbott/LNP lie!   😯

But it’s OK, cos Abbott has discovered a rather unique way of addressing dishonesty when confronted with questions about his lying ways… he just tells another lie, denying that the first one was in fact a lie at all; regardless of written and/or video evidence to the contrary… WTF?

Of course, I should add the disclaimer that;  his “Rather unique” way of dealing with said questions, is only rather unique to “real” Adults, as for kids, it’s fairly common for them to lie to cover their arses!   😯

The inherent problems with telling a lie are;

  1. You have to keep telling bigger and better lies to cover the first.
  2. You have to have a good memory.
  3. You have to make sure that everyone involved in telling or supporting the same lie, know the story and relevant, concocted “Facts”.
  4. You have to be careful to make sure that there is no evidence to prove you lied, or that you are currently lying!ditch the witch

And apart from the inherent problems with lying, Abbott himself has set the definition bar for lies so low, with his claim that Julia Gillard  lied about the “Carbon Tax”, which was in itself a lie.

Abbott’s definition of a lie/lying includes;

  • No premeditation.
  • No valid reasons for changing your mind.
  • No excuses for breaking election promises.
  • Anything that benefits the ALP.
  • Anything said by anyone other than an LNP source.
  • It’s a lie if Abbott says it is. (Which means that it’s probably closer to the truth than anything Abbott himself says   😯   )

And sadly, due to their “Winning” government on the back of the massive propaganda campaign, aided and abetted by our largely MIA MSM,  based on lies, deception and fear mongering, the LNP now seem totally incapable of telling the truth, to the point that they are looking more and more pathological by the day.   😯

But in a rare fit of provoked honesty,  “treasurer”( and I use the term with tongue firmly planted in cheek), Sloppy Joe Hockey, exposed the real reasons behind their austerity drive, and the unprovoked attack on the poorest and most vulnerable of Australian society.

The tell all line, for me, was when pressed to name a G20 country that was doing as well

Eleventy seven ? Mmm… sounds about right!

Eleventy seven ? Mmm… sounds about right!

as Australia, Hockey came up with this;

“I don’t accept, I don’t accept the basis of your question which assumes that it’s OK for us to under perform our benchmark”

So there we have it, it’s not about;

  1. Being in a bad economic state, cos we’re obviously not!
  2. Going by the world wide benchmarks that gave us the much vaunted AAA rating from all three rating agencies?
  3. What the world recognised as a great treasurer and government that took bold steps to insulate us from most of the effects of the GFC!
  4. Good fiscal management, and “Repairing” the so called “damage” of the aforementioned treasurer and government.

So why are our pensioners under attack?

Pure ideology… “OUR benchmark”!

So, the heavy lifting that Hockey is expecting “All” of us to undertake is;

  1. Not for the good of the country.
  2. Not for any real budget emergency.
  3. Not to stop us becoming the “Spain” of the Asia Pacific.
  4. Not to make us a more decent and equitable society.

He also used the term  “Under perform” prior to  “Our benchmark”… WTF?

Sloppy Joe, (and I do mean SLOPPY), it’s very convenient to wave your own benchmarks, as the standard set, but what are they?

  • Maybe the widely acclaimed?… Oh wait, that’s condemned, Direct Action policy   😉    With the bar set so low, on CC, that we went from leader to laughingstock in short order    😦
  • Maybe the purchase of A “Joint” strike force fighter, that is now a “solo” strike force fighter, cos the other part of the “Joint” has been discontinued. And again the benchmark set for expensive military hardware is a multi billion $ flock of flying lemons?
  • Maybe it’s your 3rd world NBN?   Now that bench mark couldn’t be much lower!
  • Maybe it’s your middle class welfare PPL scheme, that takes $5 + billion out of a budget that is supposedly in a state of “Emergency”, and  hands the lions share to the wealthy, while cutting funds and support for the real area of need for encouraging women to return to the workforce… CHILDCARE!
  • Maybe it’s your ability to scream blue murder about Debt, and then immediately abolish the debt ceiling  and add $68 billion to our “Debt Crisis”… WTF? … BTW, double standards doesn’t mean twice as good?   😯

The truth is that your record for setting “The Benchmark” on pretty much everything so far, is nothing short of appalling, and consequently it’s easy to make sure you don’t “Under perform”, simply by setting the bar so low (which is evidenced by the examples above) and the irony being that our economy was, until recently,  “The Benchmark” that many developed countries measured their own economic state against.

So the questions is “Why are you expecting the poorest and most vulnerable in our society, to sacrifice what little they have, to help you fund your rabid right wing ideological benchmark, of handing out billions of $’s in Middle Class welfare, along with Mining Magnate and Mogul welfare, whilst making it easier for them to rape the land and the tax payers for even greater profits.   👿

And so I would suggest that at this time in our country’s history, probably more than ever, it’s a time;

When only the “truth” will do!

    Well said Truthy, you picked it in one, “Their Benchmark”. Well done.
    I reckon also that they have thought, ” well, if we can1t have Workchoices cop this instead”.
    I really fear for where this country is heading under this mob.
    Thanks for your Anzac day thoughts.
    Cheers.

      Morning Consider, 🙂 and thanks for your comment 😎

      Yes mate, I was actually a bit taken aback by this rare confession, even though it only confirmed what we have been saying here and at other sites since the advent of this current iteration of the LNP under Abbott. 👿

      Let’s hope many more see the video, and start to realise that we are being well and truly done over for the sake of achieving nothing more than “Their own benchmarks” 🙄

      Cheers mate 😀

  2. Good job. Would argue/add only a couple of points: mainstream media was not “MIA” during Abbott’s shameless and shameful campaign, they actually largely supported it with disproportionately comprehensive and biased coverage. And one of “The inherent problems with telling a lie” is social media:-)

      Contriteshadow, welcome to truth seekers 🙂 and thanks for your comment and the re-blog 😎

      Just to clarify,you are dead right that they were completely complicit in the lies and deceptions, but what I was alluding to, in keeping with the theme of the post, was their integrity, honesty, professional ethics and credibility were MIA. 😦

      I appreciate for your input, and the re-blog and I hope you can join our conversations again. 😎

      Sandra, thanks for your comment 😎 and kind words 🙂

      I just hope that, by that one admission, people will start to see this mob for what they really are: and that is nothing more than an ideologically driven bunch of bloody liars, who’s self interest will destroy this country, if they aren’t stopped very soon! 😦

      Cheers 🙂

        Today is a bit ordinary – better than what it could be. 😉

        Journalism – we despaired over the bias by the MSM these past 6 years, and things are getting even more difficult for journalists to not only confirm their sources but protect them as well:

        The idea of living in a world where government agencies could almost instantaneously track down journalists’ sources, no matter what the public interest considerations are, seems like a chilling prospect.

        But it’s also largely the state of affairs that journalists now find themselves subject to in Australia….

        …But association is all that is needed to blow the cover on a source. And the evidence that has already emerged from the inquiry should be cause for serious concern. In a joint appearance on Tuesday the Australian crime commission, South Australian police, customs and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission all confirmed they did not have uniform application forms or processes to apply for this type of data.

        There is also no requirement under the act for them to destroy data once it has been accessed, meaning that these associations can be revealed long after they were initially accessed, and for unforeseeable purposes.

        All the while, the agencies involved continue to argue that they are doing the right thing. But how would we know?

          Dianna, I hope tomorrow’s better for you 🙂

          The problem for the journos is they, collectively, backed the wrong side, and are now being done over by the mob they supported. 😦

          The reality is that you couldn’t trust them as far as you could vomit 😯

    An excellent article, and one that is useful for me in my legal fight against my lying, stealing, sociopathic brother. My brother exhibits all four of the necessities made by lying. In the case of #2, my brother’s bad memory is a result of brain damage due to alcohol abuse, which is also probably the reason for the bad memory in those on the LNP front bench, In Abbott’s case, his bad memory is a result of brain damage due to one too many punches in the head from his early career in boxing.

    My brother is naturally an ardent defender of Abbott, and like most of the LNP, his PRIMARY LIE is the pretense that human-caused climate change is not happening.

    It is more than the lying, Truthie. It is the total and utter disregard, and contempt shown to the whole electorate. The absolute denial that any one else might know better or more. The unmitigated ramming of their ignorance and arrogance down all our throats.

      Yes mate, you are right, they show utter contempt for the electorate, and should be treated the same way. 😯

    Great article Truth Seeker – I am so sad about the way things are going.

    I came across the 2014 ‘Federal Platform’ for the Liberal Party (basically a summary of their beliefs).

    The document naturally includes things the Liberal Party are particularly partial to along with more general statements. However, in so many instances what they claim to believe in – they in fact do everything in their power to undermine, such as, on the one hand wanting to foster ‘personal responsibility’ yet all the while they keep taking away the rug from underneath many people with their policies.

    I know none of this is news and the document would probably be automatically dismissed by many anyway. Nevertheless, it is still worth a read just to be reminded of how far they are straying from what they claim to believe in. (We lesser mortals would never get away with this kind of thing)

    Below are a few examples – there are many more (see link). I am sure it will be readily apparent from the following that what they (at least outwardly) declare and what they actually do in reality are often so two very different things. I was particularly amused by “…This is why Liberalism is the enemy of privilege, sectional interests and narrow prejudice.”

    “The foundations of modern Australia are its freedom, its opportunity, its tolerance and its egalitarian sense of fairness – all foundations which Liberals are committed to protecting and strengthening.”

    “The heritage of our natural environment, no less than our cultural heritage, is one of our most precious assets, to be preserved and passed on to future generations.”

    “Liberals believe in freedom of choice and a “fair go” for all. Only in a society where individuals are free to pursue their individual goals can tyranny be avoided. Only in a society where opportunity, initiative and personal responsibility are fostered can prosperity be attained. Freedom can only be meaningful if individuals have the opportunity to participate, to achieve and to develop their talents. Respect for the individual implies tolerance of others. This is why Liberalism is the enemy of privilege, sectional interests and narrow prejudice.”

      Yes, you are right, what they portray outwardly, only has subtle hints of their true agenda, buried within the feel-good/motherhood statements.

      It’s like their un written and unspoken creed, which I have talked about for years, that says;
      “Every man, woman and child for themselves with a disclaimer that says “Unless you’re rich, and then you’ll get all the help and support that you need/want!”.

      I appreciate your input, and hope you can join our conversation again. 😀
