NSW, don’t be fooled!

NSW, don’t be fooled!

Baird and Abbott+

Abbott, and Abbott lite!

When QLD went to the polls, in January, the expectation was that although Newman would be gone, the LNP would retain enough seats to form government.

That expectation was based on the polls, the deep dislike that the voters had for Newman and his arrogant, dishonest, authoritarian, elitist and arguably corrupt leadership style, and the massive majority that the LNP won at the previous election.

There was also a fair amount of wishful thinking, on the part of the Murdoch Press, as their misleading and downright dishonest approach to reporting, along with their blatant political bias, once more raised its ugly head.

Make no mistake, the QLD election was not only a a major slap in the face to the LNP both state and federally, but in some respects an even bigger hit to Murdoch, and his ability to manipulate the masses for the sake of determining the outcomes of a supposedly “Democratic” election:

In a state where he runs the only game in town (so to speak   ❓   ),  the result signalled the beginning of the end of his influence, which is, in essence, his power base.   😯

Now in NSW, we have a slightly different scenario in as far as the power base is shared between Murdoch’s  LTD News, and the similarly biased, UnFair-fax media.

Biggy'sWhat this means for NSW is that there will be an overabundance of news print dedicated to Eddie Obeid, with an emphasis on Labor and union corruption.    Sadly what you most likely won’t hear is that the ratio of corruption is around 3+ -1 in favour of the LNP, for the same ICAC enquiry, with more LNP’ers likely to be caught up in it, before it’s completed!   😯

The reality is that there’s little difference between Baird and Newman, other than Baird has a more appealing smile, and a less abrasive leadership style, but their policies are almost identical.

The most glaringly obvious example is the selling off of assets, where they tell us that competition will bring down prices, and we’ll all be sooooo much better off.   😉     And that pack of lies alone should be enough to facilitate a result similar to that in QLD,

Here’s an excerpt from John Quiggin’s report “Electricity privatisation in Australia… A record of failure!”

After twenty years, it is evident to everyone that the electricity reform program that began in the early 1990s has not delivered the promised outcomes. Privatisation, corporatisation and the creation of electricity markets were supposed to give consumers lower prices and more choice, to promote efficiency and reliability in the electricity network, and to drive better investment decisions for new generation and improved transmission and distribution networks.

07 None of these promises have been delivered. Prices have risen dramatically. ‘Consumer choice’ has meant the removal of the secure low-cost supply consumers previously enjoyed, and its replacement with a bewildering array of offers, all at costs inflated by the huge expansion in marketing and managerial costs. Investment policies first ran down capacity inherited from the statutory authority system, then replaced it at massively higher costs. In the face of this record of failure, the response of reformers has been to claim that the only option is to push on with yet more privatisation. As has been shown in this report, this argument is baseless. Privatisation has produced no benefits to consumers, but has resulted in large fiscal losses to the public. It is time to admit that the reform process, as a whole, has been a failure, and that a return to a more centralised system, with public ownership of critical infrastructure, is the only sensible response.

The full report can be read here:

There’s also what’s shaping up as Baird’s own version of Newman’s “Galilee Basin” expansion, and the promised, tax payer funded rail project to facilitate bigger and better profits for the Indian owned company ‘Adani’, except that with Baird it’s Rio Tinto, and the relocating of the village of Bulga, for the sake of Rio Tinto’s controversial Mount Thorley-Warkworth mine extension.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/mar/06/nsw-government-suggests-entire-village-be-relocated-for-rio-tinto-coalmine

These are but two of many examples, of why NSW should follow Victoria and QLD’s lead in ridding our great country of the scourge that is this current iteration  of right wing nut-jobbery.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that privatisation is about anything other than corporate greed, political ideology, and LNP self interest.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Baird is any better than Newman, they’re both turds, it’s just that Baird has been rolled in glitter.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that Baird will do anything other than capitulate to the right wing nut-jobbery of the federal Abbott LNP.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that policies that were so roundly rejected, by what’s seen as a usually parochial QLD electorate, will be the right ones for NSW.

Don’t be fooled by the media lies and spin.

Put the LNP where they put you, your families and your futures… LAST!

NSW, don’t be fooled!

    What were they thinking?

How can you privatize a public utility to a for profit entity, while perfidiously claiming that the same service will be returned cheaper — that doesn’t make sense — the entire purpose behind privatization is to return a profit to the investor class.

    As always that’s wealth usurpation.

There is a multi prong attack on sovereignty. The bill of rights and presidency is too. The tpp matters and all the piecemeal entrapments. Pension matters , immigration with no attention to effects etc show the mindset ilk and psychopathy. 20 years of reht and housing monopoly.
The latest report on Ferguson in the US that Obama said is widespread of profiteering before humanity is here too. Heights want to jam in more immigration on the lower to profit and damn the consequences. Florida got rid of public housing too around 20 yrs ago and homeless are assaulted daily. A lot of nations have already surrendered their sovereignty due to international finance deals and becoming members of FTA’s — Not signing up has the consequence being excluded from trading with all the other members, a form of economic sanctions AKA economic warfare.

Nations that have been able to hold on to their sovereignty such as f.e. Russia & China have simply become targets for neocon friendly regime change.

All the neocons really want is take control over their sovereignty by installing a puppet regime that will be doing the privatizing.

After Ukraine, obviously Russia was next, while China has seen the writing on the wall, if they succeed in both China and Russia, the rest of Asia and Africa, South America will be next and not necessary in that order.

Even an nation that is not considered a military threat per se but is doing well economically will be in the neocon crosshairs.

It’s all about the global hegemony, the imaginary goal of attaining perpetual economic growth on a finite planet is simply impossible.

The US spends more on its military than the next 15 big spenders in line.

The annual cost cost of stationing one soldier in Iraq could feed 60 families in the US.

In 2008, the Pentagon spend in 5 seconds more money on Iraq than the average USan earned in an entire year, and still, deeper and deeper into debt they go.

Which in essence is one of the main reason why any government should be passionately guarding their nations sovereignty against any type of corporate takeover, then there is the matter of not looking after the interests of the electorate.

The failure of the GWOT resulting in the rise of ISIS also serves another interest, more drastic measures are needed, hand over your civil rights they will need them to protect you from harm.

How could any government seriously claim to be looking after matters of sovereignty & civil rights issues when they simply take these away, while awarding more and more rights to fictional identities like corporations?

Either we have civil rights or we don’t.

    Great article TS.

Even more egregious is the Baird government’s intention to privatise aged home care & NDIS selling them off to *shudder* Serco & BUPA. $800 million of disability care assets will be handed over. Staff employed by the state’s Home Care will also be handed over & will have absolutely no say as to where they go to work. It could be hundreds of kilometres from where they live now. Great Aunt Maud’s miserly ‘weekly’ shower could be done by a carer who is stationed more than a hundred kilometres away. Think she will get that shower? No way.

Then there is the privatisation of sections of a PUBLIC hospital such as operating theatres, radiology, renal units, pharmacy etc. All leading to a two tier level of health care. I could go on but I fear I shall be ill.

We were lucky enough to be at the NSW Labor’s North Coast campaign launch, at Tweed Heads, attended by Luke Foley & Annastacia Palaszczuk. It was my good fortune to have my hand shaken by both Annastacia & Luke as they entered the auditorium. Annastacia, who uses a friendly two handed handshake, is much taller & slimmer than she appears on TV & gave us a rousing speech. The roof lifted. Luke spoke to me by name, when he shook my hand, having remembered it from a meeting several weeks ago. His speech also roof-lifting worthy. Both of them are impressive people.

NSW will be in good hands if Labor gets over the line. If only the Greens would stop whiteanting Labor & putting put false claims about NSW Labor as they are currently doing. Atm they are behaving worse than the LNP if that could be possible. Apologies for the length of this comment, TS. 😉

Hello Joy, nice to see you here.
You are not alone there, most of Qld think Annastacia is our HERO. 🙂

The Qld Libs under Newman, were up to the very same tricks, we had to work hard to get the message out to the general public. It’s no good trying to get exposure on the local radio stations, or the occasional article in local papers, we found they were only interested in pandering to their advertisers who were of course ..businesses who were splashing their dollars around in an effort to get their equally dollar driven pals over the line.
We needed to get into the comment columns and social media, we had to door knock and yell from the roof tops, we needed the clever folk to write ‘opinion pieces’ and letters to the Editor, to try and spread the truth.

We have many retirees and elderly folk in this area and should have focused on rest homes and local bowling clubs, RSL etc more, as after the voting, we found that our local, completely useless sitting MP, had ingratiated himself into them, he had their votes, simply because the staff etc would tell his office of residents birthdays, wedding anniversaries etc and he had been sending them personal cards. That disingenuous personal touch is all it took to buy their precious votes …hence we are saddled with him until next time !
We also needed those who had lost their jobs, or who had sickness, or disability, who had students worried about their futures and those in emergency services who KNEW first hand, about the hardships to come under a Liberal/National govt to SPEAK OUT.

Even now, after Annastacia has begun to uncover the secret deals and huge extravagant expenses of the Newman gov, the remnants of the Newman gov ( now in opposition) are trying to undermine her at evey step … It’s in their DNA, and they are making complete fools of themselves !!
Stir it up Joy … Wear an “I’m NOT with Stupid” Tshirt, or ” Baird is our smiling assassin” T shirt… Get arrested 🙂 any publicity is good publicity …. Even better at our age ??

Sorry about the rant, Whew ..I feel better now LOL

The Nationals MP are lazy seat warmers who offer no policies (have none) but only denigrate Labor. They have taken us for granted fr far too long.

Also we are active members of our Labor branch, which is only 7 months old, & have a vested interest in helping our candidate as he is from our branch. We know him well & would do us proud if he took the seat from one of the laziest MPs on the planet. Thanks TS. Have met several state Labor MPs, including Luke Foley & they have all been friendly, intelligent, decent people. Cannot underestimate Luke’s passion for the environment which, I think, worries the Greens, as he seems even more concerned about it than they are. He was the one who, early last year, took the concerns of the North Coast re CSG to Sydney which resulted in the total banning of CSG & unconventional gas mining in the seven council regions of the North Coast. A great win for us.

    Joy Cooper,
The Greens are doing a fair job of whiteanting Labor in the Illawarra also .
We again have a Greens candidate who over the years has stood for every election known and it wouldn’t be a shock if he ran for bloody school Prefect.
At his dozen or so goes as a Green he failed miserably ,halving his vote in the last Federal election
He finally won something when he dropped the Green, ran as an Independent and got on the local council.
Now we all know Angry Anderson, who has tried in 5 different seats from the North Coast/Sydney /Illawarra as a Lib. then Nat/Lib/Nat again .
This time he turned up at Cessnock as a Nat, but pulled out after a Lib Councillor quit over his parachuting into that seat.
Now just to show their true colours, this is what our local Green try hard had to say on two Politicians.
    On Julia Gillard
“she will prove to be not only a red head but a redneck as well”

But on the Racist Redneck Anderson, he had this to say
“In a statement today, Peter Moran, the Greens candidate for Throsby said ‘Mr Anderson brings a wealth of life experience into his role. We especially recognise and applaud his work for youth charities. Such activism can only benefit the youth of this area, which suffers from a distressingly high youth unemployment rate’.
‘One of the most enjoyable aspects of the 2010 campaign, from my point of view, was the opportunity to work with the then Nationals candidate, Mr Alan Hay, to promote policies we both thought were in the best interests of the people of Throsby. I look forward to developing a similar relationship with Mr Anderson. In that way we can best serve the interests of those we would seek to represent’.

And my favourite quote from Peter the Perpetual Candidate would be when the Greens ALLOWED Labor to Govern in 2010
“As part of the deal whereby the Greens supported the ALP and allowed them to form government in 2010 the Parliamentary Budget Office was set up.”
Its time the Greens put up or shut up and take their preferences to the Nationals, where they seem quite at home

Cornie, the Greens are so predatory now they are no longer worthy of a progressive’s vote. Here they are trying to claim all of Labor’s policies as their own & badmouthing them whenever possible. They get more newsprint, air & TV space than Labor.

Down at Macksville, in the Oxley electorate, the Greens candidate is saying only they will provide a new (or refurbished) hospital & that Labor will not. Elsewhere they are claiming CSG banning as their work (it’s not) when they were late comers to that area. The claims that Labor is pro-privatisation makes my blood boil. They make me so angry that it’s a toss-up between them & the waffly CDP lady as to who will get 2nd last spot on my ballot paper. Grrr

The four candidates are outstanding & we are working hard to make sure the voters know they have a REAL alternative to voting Nat. One Nat candidate says he is anti-CSG & will fight for the farmers in Sydney but we’ve heard that all before. He will be told to shut up, do as he’s told & sit there quietly. This was announced on the morning of the North Coast campaign launch. Having a special campaign launch on the North Coast was a huge first. There is a fantastic campaigb bus, completely covered with Labor signage & Luke Foley images, of which all staffers & candidates are really proud. Several times a staffer (all youmng, full of energy, friendly & bright) would ask us “Have you seen the bus?” Lol .

The Country Labor candidate for Tweed, Ron Goodman, was thrilled with the announcement of the upgrade of the Tweed Hospital. The Nats were offering $40million. There were further hospital expenditures for Lismore & Ballina electorates & our small town in the seat of Clarence will get a needed para-medical type of clinic. The new hospital in Byron Bay won’t be allowed to be privatised as the Baird gvt is going to do. (They are also going to privatise parts of Lismore Base Hospital, something you won’t hear the Nats talking about.) These promises have all been thoroughly thought out & costed, something the LNP don’t do. Just rely on what they sell & we know they never get the price they claim they will get. Baird keeps saying they will have $20billion but the price of the poles & wires is ‘only’ $13billion max, the rest of the $29bil is made up of the alleged $5bil bribe from Abbott & some interest payments. None of this is guaranteed.

For the poster it will show up as either pending or awaiting moderation or comment removed when the the Mod has made a final decision.

Anyway that was my two cents, I have another theory that the Greens are part and package of a grand plan from across the pond – that was to deliberately deny Labor the election by cancelling their alliance that ensured the LNP to win which benefits the global financial elite and their political puppets the neocons.

Just found one of the reasons going on behind the scenes that we are assaulted with such threats in the mainstream. Govt is trying to fastrack BP drilling for oil in the gulf whale sanctuary.

    WORKERS OF THE WORLD
    (Air: “Lillibulero”)
    By Connell

Stand up, ye toilers, why crouch ye like cravens?
Why clutch an existence of insult and want?
Why stand to be plucked by an army of ravens,
Or hoodwink’d forever by twaddle and cant?
Think of the wrongs ye bear,
Think on the rags ye wear,
    Think on the insults endur’d from your birth;
    Toiling in snow and rain,
    Rearing up heaps of grain,
All for the tyrants who grind you to earth.

Your brains are as keen as the brains of your masters,
    In swiftness and strength ye surpass them by far;
Ye’ve brave hearts to teach you to laugh at disasters,
Ye vastly outnumber your tyrants in war.
    Why then like cowards stand,
    Using not brain or hand,
Thankful like dogs when they throw you a bone?
What right have they to take
Things that ye toil to make?
Know ye not, workers, that all is your own?

    Rise in your might, brothers, bear it no longer;
    Assemble in masses throughout the whole land;
Show these incapables who are the stronger
When workers and idlers confronted shall stand.
    Thro’ Castle, Court and Hall,
    Over their acres all,
Onwards we’ll press like waves of the sea,
    Claiming the wealth we’ve made,
    Ending the spoiler’s trade;
Labor shall triumph and mankind be free
