The most dangerous drug of all

The most dangerous drug of all

Myuran Sukumaran's art

Andrew Chan                            Myuran Sukumaran   REST IN PEACE

I was thinking last night, about the injustice and hypocrisy of the state sanctioned murder that we were witness to yesterday, and the reasons for such political expediency.

Fran’s comment yesterday also pushed home the sad truth, that within a few days, all the posturing will be over, and it will be business as usual, as the political and financial imperatives once again kick in.

And the thing that really stood out to me, was that the truth is, there are many addictions that afflict mankind,  but there’s one in particular, that is responsible for far more poverty, human tragedy and deaths, than any man made drug could ever claim responsibility for.

It may not be recognised as a “drug” in the traditional sense, but has just as strong a hold on those addicted to it, and is in reality;

The most dangerous drug of all

Around the world there’s lots of talk

About mans drugs of choice

Yet the ignorant and self serving

Speak with the loudest voice

They talk of epidemics

And they talk, the rule of law

And approve state sanctioned murder

Which has corruption at its core

But everybody has a drug

That in some way rules their life

It’s something we’re addicted to

And most can cause great strife

It might be one that’s taken

Or it might be from within

It could be our endorphins

Or it could be heroine

And legally accepted drugs

Like grog and nicotine

Are social epidemics

With a cost that’s just obscene

Like violence, rape and murder

And the medical costs we pay

As the price for our addictions

In our sadly human way

There’s people that are addicted

To such things as exercise

There are people that can’t tell the truth

Addicted to their lies

And for the love of money

Atrocities have been done

And those that think, to cheat and steal

Is fine, because they’ve won

Even “Love” has been defiled

By peoples mad obsession

Addicted to emotion, thinking

Someone, is their possession

With personal greed and selfishness

As drugs of choice as well

Addictions just as damaging

That create a living hell

And now our politicians speak

Of epidemics verge

Referring to the man made drug

Of Ice, the latest scourge

They say we need much stronger laws

To make a safer nation

So they’ll fill our courts with addicts

Causing legal constipation

But the truth is there’s a much worse drug

The most dangerous drug of all

It doesn’t need a dealer

But can cause the great to fall

A drug that’s been the start of wars

The cause of millions dying

A drug that’s fed by other drugs

Like personal greed and lying

A drug that’s used by media moguls

And corporate heads as well

The very rich and politicians

Succumb to this drugs spell

It’s a drug of mans condition

That perverts each waking hour

For those that are addicted

To the mad desire… for power.

Great poem, Truthy! You are right of course. That’s the cause of the biggest problems in our world and leads to many of the other addictions as well. Unfortunately we find ourselves saddled with a PM who craves power and its his only motivation. It’s a vicious cycle too as many families bring up their kids to seek power and equate holding power with success and happiness.

Hey Dee 🙂 thanks for that 😎 And yes, you’re right, there’s a lot of focus on the wrong things, and when our PM is such arrogant and ideologically driven arse, who thinks that he knows better than the experts, it not a good role model for our kids/grandkids 😦

Hey Brickbob 🙂 thanks for that mate 🙂

Yes, we certainly are 😯 Mine also used to be smoking (Although it’s not the reason for my lung disease even though I’m sure it didn’t help 🙄 ) but now I’m an oxygen thief 😯 when I can find some 😉

      Cheers mate 🙂

    Good piece truthy.
Did you notice we all woke to paradise after powers ceremony mutilated those who were not the times or people of their sentencing. I cannot see it but it’s supposed to be here.
Money, guilt, bludging prestige and power , and no doubt, the sexual connotaions involved with the bloodlust and macabre was the bullets. Amongst legal trade infestations of management and truth of system death penalties. The light on the hill dims as the shadows of superstition and headhunters gather.

Thruthy when I saw your heading one thought immediately flew into my mind, and as I continued reading and you outlined each drug I wondered until the final line.
You named it, spot on with my own thought and right now the country’s leading moron seems to be into some heavy sh** . and leaning ihto a stouch with the Indons, over a couple of drug dealers for crying out loud. At least the Greeks and the Trojans new what its confrontation/war was based on. Some one needs to reign Tones in quick smart before things turn nasty.

Hey Bilkp 🙂 yes mate, I’m glad you saw that, cos that was my intention 🙂

Heavy shit indeed 😯 but I for one, DON’T want what he’s having 😈

And going on Idiot boy’s past performance, I think he’s too gutless to cause a problem on purpose, but with his terminal foot in mouth disease, anything’s possible 🙄 and you’re right that he needs to be reigned in, before he threatens to “Shirtfront” the largest Muslim nation on the planet 😯

      Cheers mate 🙂

There’ll be no stoush unless planned. Heights have been up each others butts on mining, oil, gas , Guinea and Timor for decades. We need to help each other where possible and drop the superior race stance. Joko stuffed up playing the power and fear card for all and his people. For crying out loud , a third of Australia could hang for drugs and a quarter of the qld public service not so long ago.
There must be more fear stick waving and forced hardship and stress, Murdocracy and the one percent floats on it.

    Another good one Truthy.
INMHO, to maintain Power, this dangerous bastard Abbott would even declare war on any country, including Indonesia.
How lucky was that young lady due to face the firing squad with those other nine?

Yes, if there was something in it for him, he probably would 😯 then he’d run away and let someone else fix up his bloody mess 🙄

I don’t think he have a brain if he was offered one 🙄

That’s one way they could fix the deficit and thew budget black hole… Rent out the vacant space between his ears 😯

    Good morning.
Thanks once again for speaking on behalf of all of us kindred spirits.
Can I respectfully suggest that one of mankind’s most powerful drugs has been missed in your collection.
“Religion is the opiate of the masses”. It applies regardless of whatever religion, whatever nation or state, whatever socio-economic grouping. I appreciate the fact that the offering has hard line origins but I believe that it remains true today, or even more true, than ever before.

    • Truth Seeker says:

Morning Frank 🙂 hope the day is treating you well, 🙂 and thanks mate 😎

I left out many of the “Drugs” and “Addictions”, as the poem would have been more of an epic, had I included even half. 😯

But WRT religion, in my experience all religions are a powerful motivating force, (Drug… Addiction ) in the hearts and minds of believers, but it’s the misinterpretation of religious doctrines that really cause the problems, and that goes for all religions including my own 😦 which was very evident throughout the 60’s-70’s with the Catholics and protestants in England and Ireland, and in some areas those tensions still remain 😦

But many of those misinterpretations can be and are directly attributed to a few individuals desire for power, either within their own religious organisation, or over others… or both 😈

Zealots are dangerous people in any organisation, be it religious, political or even social 😡

But when all’s said and done, IMHO it all comes down to man’s mad desire for power 😈

      Cheers mate 🙂
