He has quite a profile on the internet and is variously described as a writer, appears to be involved, or at least making efforts to be involved in the structural organisation of the Greens in NSW, has been a candidate for Student Union rep at UNSW.
Not sure whether he’s ever done a day’s work but that would put him in good company with the ‘arty/farty’ faction of the Left. (Just thought of that, I should run it passed DJ and the chardy swillers at IA.)

These pictures were taken Saturday 21st March at 12.54pm at the Blacktown pre-poll booth.
They are still frames from a video of an exchange with a boy approximately 10 years old and a Liberal Party volunteer.
The boys mother was talking to a Labor MP and without her knowledge the boy was taken aside by the Liberal volunteer, given a Liberal Party how to vote sheet and told to “tell his mum” this and that, he then held the boys shoulder and patted it. The child’s mother was blissfully unaware of what had occurred.
I have the incident on video however do not wish the child to be identified for obvious reasons, however will provide the footage to any relevant authorities.
Please share this around so that people know the type of people that volunteer for the “Mike Baird Team”

UBS, one of two banks handling the proposed NSW electricity network sell-off for the government, said in an initial report the sale would damage the budget in the long term due to the loss of billions of dollars in dividends and other payments.

But the investment bank – which stands to benefit by earning millions of dollars in fees if the transaction proceeds after the March 28 election – reissued the report on Wednesday with an addendum removing a statement the transaction was “bad for the budget”.

Mr Baird has admitted his staff called UBS after the initial report was released but he says the bank was already changing the report.

Mr Baird doesn’t make sense — While he can say anything that he likes — That does not mean that it true! — The property of the commonwealth are not his to offer for sale~!

Neither does Mr Baird appear particularly willing to debate these matters in public.

Put it this way – would Mr Baird be willing to forego his home — His family heirlooms for the greater benefit of the nation?

I strongly doubt Mr Baird or anyone else for that matter would be willing — His family would strongly object just like the citizens of the commonwealth object to this treasonous selling.

Yes, I will not be hanging out in the Lounge anymore but will still pop in to read Truthie’s wonderful musings and fabulous poetry. Sadly, despite Truthie very kindly providing 3 other pages on his TSM site for the discussion of the ‘heavier’ subjects it seems to have become popular to turn the previously fun-filled relaxed atmosphere of the Lounge into a more intense discussion room. Please don’t take this the wrong way and assume I find your ‘heavier’ discussions unpleasant in anyway – it’s just the Lounge was a unique haven to get away from the politics for awhile and spend some time-out relaxing and de-stressing from all the shit with a wonderful bunch of folks.

So… I would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to all of you whom I have shared fun, laughter, much love and many custard tarts, buckets and vat laps with over the years… you have all helped to get me thru some very dark times and I cannot thank you enough for all the fabulous support you have given me…

So, Barkeep, if you please, a last round of margarita buckets and a last plate of custard tarts…

Love, hugs and lots of very positive thoughts to you all,

I’m so sorry to learn of your decision to ‘withdraw’ from the lounge. I hope that my occasional venting didn’t contribute to your respective decisions.

On a lighter note I noticed a comment, elsewhere, that in the course of Abbott’s, Goebell’s gaffe last week he actually said, “I withdraw” 15 times in about 3 minutes. It is observed that if his father had withdrawn just once, it could’ve saved us all from the ravages of the village idiot.

PLEASE… don’t think for one minute I am abandoning Truthie or this site, far from it – I am just refraining from playing in the Lounge as the content of the posts has just become a miasma of political comments.

As I said in my earlier post – the Lounge had been a unique place here on the ‘internet thingy’ – those of us who helped in it’s creation had needed a place, a home, to come to – a place to de-stress from the constant political crap – a place to help us re-group and keep the “Light upon Hill” shining brightly… our own unique version of the bar in “Cheers” …

… but far be it from me to dictate the direction the Lounge should now take in the future… if/when the Lounge gets back to what it was I would hope that I would be welcome to return… along with my world famous custard tarts of course 😉 , but right now I feel I have nothing to contribute to the conversations taking place there… conversations that I would probably join if they were on the other more appropriate pages that Truthie has very kindly provided for that very type of conversation. And as I just didn’t want to disappear I felt I had to explain why I was pulling back… I have made some very wonderful friends here and would hate to think anyone has been offended, or influenced, by my stance as I do NOT wish to influence anyone else with this decision of mine, which, BTW, I had discussed privately with Truthie prior to making my earlier comment of last nite.

There are 3, yep count ’em folks THREE !!! other pages here at TSM that are available for political conversations, “The Soapbox”, “Cornies Page for lnp Lies and Stuff Ups” and “The Dungeon” … I can’t think of any other host that has been that generous with ‘open conversation’ space on any other site… so maybe we can all take advantage of those pages for our very valid ‘rants’ instead… I for one certainly plan to 🙂

So, Barkeep, please a round of buckets for all the Lounge-roomers … and would someone please keep those damn illegal chefs Russty left cluttering up the Patti O’Furniture under control, they were last seen heading for the deck swigging from a bottle of labelled ‘SpewMantis” – think it is one of Summie’s concoctions and the fallout may be spectacular 😆 😆 😆

Hey againTruth Seekers 🙂 And now it’s time for my best King Solomon impression (No, I’m not going to suggest cutting a baby in half 😉 )
I’ve been meaning to archive this page, for the last couple of weekends, as it’s well past the 2500 comments that usually makes it hard to load for some phones and tablets 😯

So I will be archiving it tonight, and opening the new lounge page at the same time… or thereabouts 😉

WRT the very valid points that the lovely Mel has brought to our attention, I firstly want to say thanks Mel for being a true Truth Seeker, and great friend and supporter to me and TSM, and also to say that due to circumstances beyond my control I have been MIA for a lot of the discussions, to which my “likes” and short replies can attest.

To quote the Lung Foundation… “When you can’t breathe, nothing else matters” 😯 and although my breathing has been pretty bad, we’ve also had other issues to deal with, like SWMBO’s ongoing problems with her right knee, which means I’m doing a lot of driving, and not much writing, although I hope a new (Cheapie) tablet will go some way to rectifying that problem as soon as I get the refund from the first one that wouldn’t charge 😡

    But I digress 😛

Mel is right, that the conversations have been getting a bit too heavy of late, and the lounge was always meant as a chat room for friends to get together at an oasis from the rigours of the political battle O_o so I have decided to lay down a few basic “guidelines” for comments posted in the lounge. 😯

The first thing to reiterate is that TSM is a left wing political site, and as such, comments and meme’s are expected and encouraged, and as Mel reminded us, we have a number of pages to post on, along with new posts covering relevant topics (hopefully 😉 )

    So what I would ask of all our great and valued commenters at TSM is when commenting in the Lounge;
    • All political comments, memes and links should be about current Australian political events (within the previous 24 hours or thereabouts), and kept fairly light, in the spirit of fun and consideration for other loungers 🙂
    • Any and all “rants” on Aussie politics are welcome, but should be placed on either the Soapbox, the Dungeon, or Cornies page. 😀
    • Any rants about overseas politics are welcome, but should be restricted to the Soapbox, where they can be readily viewed and discussed by those that are interested in international political affairs, and the deeper political questions 😉

All other areas of silliness, fun and personal sharing are welcome, and in fact encouraged, as we are all adults and friends here 😯 and that was what the lounge was originally intended for 😀

And finally, if a comment gets inadvertently posted in the lounge, which I deem to be better suited to another page, I reserve the right to copy and paste said comment to the relevant page, with a moderators comment that it has been moved, and where to find it. 😉

As has always been the policy at TSM, I will not delete or moderate comments except in extreme circumstances, but will rely on the decency and integrity of all truth seekers, as I know and appreciate that you are all really good and decent people, with no deliberate intent to upset or offend.

After all, we all love this great country, and are united in the common cause of fighting and ultimately defeating the real and present danger of rabid right wing nut-jobbery 😀

I know that the lounge has become a point of contact for visitors and regulars, and regularly gets a good number of hits, and I certainly don’t want to discourage that, but I really would like to preserve the fun and friendly atmosphere that we have all worked hard to build up, and expect here, since its inception.

I welcome your comments and feedback on these new guidelines, and hope that we can all work to encourage and inspire one another in the common cause 🙂

    Cheers 🙂

I will post the relevant parts of this comment as part of the new page, when it’s posted 😉

Thanks Truthie. Sorry to hear about your health and Mrs Truthie’s ongoing problems. And sorry to see trouble at the OK Corral,. Also sorry if I’m only making it worse. However, the ranting has been putting me off, too. I think the changes that Mel has proposed and that you have implemented will help. But at the same time, I need to say that some of the ranting is difficult to take in itself, whatever page it’s on. I particularly worry about Greens-bashing. I don’t mind the Greens being held to account – not at all, but that’s not what’s been happening. There’s been something quite childishly destructive about it, and it lets the ‘goodies’ down.

Like both of you, I have been angry and dismayed by some of the things the Greens have done, but then I’ve also been angry and dismayed at things the ALP have done. But the hard right is the enemy. Let’s call them ALL out on their mistakes and whatever horrors they perpetrate, as we really must, and let’s be prepared to be called out ourselves. And let’s give credit wherever it may be due. If we want to change the world, WE need to be the adults.

Kate, I agree with everything you have said. Let`s get rid of these dangerous Tories first, with the help of the Greens preferences if necessary, then worry about the Greens or whomever, later.
I`m buggered if I know why, that now we have the Tories on the back foot and here we are on Truthy`s great site sniping at one and other when we should be concentrating on the common enemy (the LNP).
I`ve just about had a gutful to be honest. If we don`t particularly like our current leader (and I not impressed with him either), let`s at least realise that leaders come and go and the Labor Party carries on and will always be there. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Party matters, but don`t give the enemy ammunition by airing our dirty linen publicly. That`s what branch meetings are for.
It bloody annoys me when I read on this site comments such as, not supporting the ALP federally, because of who will lead them at the next election. I don`t give a stuff who the leader is and who preferences the ALP, as long as we win. Surely, the goal is TO GET INTO GOVERNMENT. It wasn`t that long ago we were accepting preferences from the communist party. In fact even Jim Killen won that close election for Menzies with Commo preferences, and here we are worrying about the bloody greens, Fair dinkum, what`s wrong with us?

By the way, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into

I understand that they are trying to talk up their own prospects, and I have found myself, at times, wishing that the ALP had taken the line at a presser that Milne has taken 😯

But having said that, any far left mob, like the greens, that sides with the far right LNP, as they did to vote down the original ETS, citing ideological grounds, and vote with the LNP to give them a licence to rack up unlimited debt, to display their own perceived political relevance, amongst other grand contradictions, deserve all the condemnation that they get and more. 😈

And their reality is that they cannot afford to be seen directing preferences away from the only viable alternative government, as they have done in the past, without electoral ramifications.

I agree that our main focus has to be the LNP, but lies, hypocrisy and short term political opportunism should be shown up for what it is, no matter which side of politics it comes from, otherwise our cred is no better than theirs IMHO 😉

        Cheers mate 🙂

Now, where’s those bloody pain meds…

        Barkeep…

Fair comment Truthy, but I`m buggered if I can see the point, or the agenda, in attacking ANY group instead of the MAIN enemy. What is achieved if the smaller groups disappeared. If we were assured of gaining the peoples votes .fair enough, but would we?

I`ve never been one to put a label or a nick-name on myself, I leave that for others, ( I feel like heaving when the likes of Newman nick-named himself “can do”, and continually used it until the boof-headed media picked it up and he became “Can do Cambell”, and the sheep believed it. The same with Antony Mundine, (I think he supports Labor), who kept calling himself “The man”, until the idiots picked it up and ran with, just like they did with “Honest John Howard”. Look where that ended up. The bloody punters ended up believing that that was what the headline really meant. That he WAS honest.

For what it`s worth Truthy I`ve` never believed in Organised Factions within the ALP, because I consider I can make my mind up on any issue without being told as to how I vote. When our son joined the ALP in Canberra in the eighties, he proudly showed me a key chain badge which stated he belong to a certain faction of the party. when I suggested to him that he joined the Labor Party and not Party within a Party, he agreed and got rid of the damn thing.

Truthy we have never put a label on ourselves, politically, that`s for other to do. but I can tell you, both of us have been labelled communists and other tags almost through the political spectrum. Of course, by not being a member of any organised faction that`s what freedom of opinion is, in my book. It allows you the freedom to judge every issue on it`s merit and speak accordingly.

If people want to put a tag on us, good, that`s what normal people do every day in life, but if, as a result of that tag they think we are their political enemy, stiff cheddar.
I`m not having a go at you or anyone else on this site mate, but I`m simply indicating where we stand, and stating my opinion.

It`s a fact of life that the ALP currently, is sadly that far to the right on the political spectrum, that it is not a shadow of what it was when I first joined in 1971, but I don`t see how anyone can change it by in-fighting publicly.
That`s the end of my rant young fella. and be careful of that pain in the left side mate, Remember mate Mrs Truthy is relying on you, at least until she can drive again 😀

Mate, I concur with the thrust of your comment 😀

I have always considered myself to be centre left, which in todays climate makes me a rabid lefty, as centre left is now barely left of centre 😯 and I’m way left of that 😉 I agree that this current iteration of the ALP is close to where Fraser was, 😯 and way right of where it should be 😡

I also agree that there is little to be gained by in-fighting, but rightly or wrongly, politics is a very emotive subject, and and when passions are inflamed, quite often rationale is the first casualty 😦

Labor does need to get back to its roots; changes that can only be effected from the inside out, and as such, I will be doing my level best to get the ALP re-elected, in spite of my misgivings about Shorten (Misgivings I have made clear 😉 ) But it’s very frustrating and demoralising, when the party that you support, seems hell bent on making our job harder than it already is, by continuing to shoot itself in the foot, and apparently doing all it can to pull itself apart, before our very eyes, like the stupidity of supporting the data retention legislation, which the vast majority of R&F don’t like, don’t want them to support, and have told the party so… me included 😡

WRT the pain in my side, I get the feeling that it’s a bit of pleurisy, but am going to the Drs at 2:40 pm to try and find out 🙄

            Cheers mate 🙂

Truthy WRT the pain in your side, last December, after I’d had a similar pain for months on my right side at the back. The result of a CT scan was – moderate degenerative changes are seen at the right 11th rib costovertebral junction. Apparently this is where the 11th rib joins the spinal cord. Like you, I thought it was pleurisy too. As it turned out, it was the lessor of the two evils. 😀

Bar-keep, when Truthy comes home this afternoon, give him a decent shot of single malt and keep them coming. 😀

I have just been through a continuing campaign of deciet ,lies, misrepresentations, the whole box of tricks from the local Greens {which is standard practice here} and for the next 5 days I’ll give them buggery.
I have already let head Office know that I am quite a few others will be encouraging ALP supporters to just vote 1, and bugger the Greens/ALP preference deal .
If they object, we just won’t work on the polling booths.
Thats how strong I feel on the issue

Just on the subject of the Greens, before I shut up.
All the Media are carrying this
“More than 500 people gathered at Sydney’s Town Hall in the CBD to hear Greens Senator Christine Milne, who was introduced as the “leader of the opposition”.”
This introduction of Milne was deliberate, done by a Greens Party hack.
          This is nothing new,
Some may remember the bun fight I had with the Greens over the attempted highjacking of the Wollongong March in March last year .
They can’t get the numbers through their own ability, so try to highjack ones organised by March in March.
The mess up last time, and what happened ?
No march this year in a once [and still to a degree} strong Labor region
