That’s just democracy… Stupid!

That’s just democracy… stupid!

After 9 weeks, we’ve had the first sitting week (2 days) of the new parliament, and what have we seen?images

Well the promised “Adults” turned out to be somewhat less than promised, acting more like spoilt brats, with a firm grasp on their alternate universe, as opposed to the reality that the rest of us live in.   😯

The promised “open and transparent” government, turned out to be more akin to a half baked, despotic regime, run by a gang of 12 year old delinquents who will do anything to hide the fact that they have no idea WTF they’re doing.   😛

The “Tow back/Turn around and Boats buy back” signature planks of Abbott’s signature AS policy, have more holes, and are sinking faster than the leaky boats that they promised to stop.   😯

imagesThere’s Sloppy Joe Hockey, who basically said that if you want to know what he’s about, then look at what he said before the election… and expect the exact opposite.

Which is a recurrent theme throughout the rest of the LNP cabinet, with;

  • Abbott saying, that the relationship with Indonesia would be so much better under the LNP, right before he and the Julie (Medusa) Bishop, tried really hard to trash it.   🙄
  • Morrison, playing Supreme Commander of his own private tax payer provided defence force, while spending inordinate amounts of time claiming credit for a success that isn’t his to claim, whilst trying to defend the indefensible; that being his deafening silence on any details pertaining to his portfolio.    And in the true spirit of “Adult” and “No excuses” government, states that “It’s not in my folder” (Read ‘The dog ate my homework’), and I’m not telling… so there!   😛   images
  • Bronny (Standards… What standards?) Bishop, making all the right noises about fairness and particularly respect for the rules, and for MP’s titles, the day before, then making her first ruling as newly elected speaker, to allow name calling in a blatant disregard for standing orders?
  • Shrek (It’s not easy being green) Hunt as Environment Minister saying how he is committed to 5% greenhouse reductions,  whilst ignoring the science and all the experts, who say that DA may not achieve their target (even with increased funding, which the LNP have already ruled out, and despite many now saying that 25%+ will be needed), and then to rub salt into an already open and festering wound, by ignoring the  UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw?
  • The aforementioned Sloppy Joe, screaming blue bloody murder about Debt and deficit before the election, and then giving $8.8 Billion to the reserve bank, amongst other things, all the while asking to increase the debt ceiling by a mere 67% to half a Trillion?

Of course this is just a small sample of the gross hypocrisy thus far, but more than sufficient to emphasise the point, especially when one considers that they have now sat for two full days?

The strange thing is that over the last couple of weeks, I have heard numerous references to “Free and Fair” elections, in the MSM, and I find myself yelling… WTF? and other choice expletives at the TV, at the blatant hypocrisy of the media in this country.

For starters we now have:

  • A government that was bought and paid for by a US citizen!
  • A highly complicit Media that withheld the truth, or only presented one side of a discussion.  They also, in many cases, misrepresented a story, or were deliberately misleading in their reporting of it, as well as fabricating evidence, and claiming “Unnamed Sources”, to further disguise or hide the truth from the public.
  • A multi billionaire who spent a lot of his own money, to effectively buy a seat in parliament, and representation in the senate. (Just calling it as I see it.   😉   )
  • A speaker of the house that not only ignores standing orders and protocols, when it suits, but she doesn’t even watch what is going on, so that when someone from the opposition stands on a point of order, they are left waiting until she notices or is told that they’re there.
  • And if that is not enough reason to question our systems, there are questions now over the AEC, with nearly 1400 lost votes, as well as whole indigenous communities in WA not getting polling booths, not to mention other system failures.

But the ultimate frustration and irony in this whole democratic dilemma that we are now facing, is that; when the LNP are questioned about the government that was promised and not delivered, and the MSM carrying on as though they had no part in the deceptions that resulted in the election of this mendacious mob , we are laughingly informed by them that “The people have spoken”!

And in pointing their collective fingers at the very system that they have corrupted, they not only expose, once again, their utter contempt for us and our systems but also their gross hypocrisy as they effectively tell us;

  • Nothing to see here.
  • Nothing to worry about.
  • The “Adults” are back in charge.
  • Australia’s open for business.
  • All is well with the world
  • And besides… “That’s just democracy… stupid!

And that thing is how the Minister for Banging Square Pegs Into Round Holes Malgollum Turnaround is busily destroying the very vehicle that Labor set up to take Australia to the 21st Century and beyond.escaping the clutches of the ones named below.

Sadly I don’t know that there is any safe way to look at it, as look what happened to the LNP? 😯 At the very least, their hearts and brains have turned to stone, or mush… Take your pick 😀

I feel we now have three years of difficult circumstances ahead of us, with the adults giving us a transparent government, as seen through a brick wall of silence.

I’d rather have an open government which made mistakes (and also did many good things) , as opposed to a secretive one which appears (on the surface) to be nothing but mean and soulless.

Yes, at least if they are transparent you know where you stand, even if you don’t necessarily agree with all they do, but if they treat everything as a state secret, you start to wonder what else they are hiding, 😡 and with this mob, nothing would surprise 😯

Mate, I don’t know about the one we were promised, but we certainly didn’t get the one inferred 😯

Or maybe the “Adults” they were talking about were the ones that live long enough to become a problem for the kids 😉

But to be honest, if that’s how “adults” are, then call me Peter Pan, and hang on to your Tinkerbell 😯 cos I don’t want to be one 😀

Truth Seeker, another brilliant piece, thank you. Your reference to the MSM set my adrenalin pumping once again. I blame them entirely for this debacle we are in (including the ABC – no, particularly the ABC, because we pay them to be impartial). You would think these so called journalists did not have children and families to think about, because they too have to Iive in this cesspit that Abbott is creating. Until journalists start to fear – really fear – what Abbott is creating (more like destroying) then we will see very little turn around. I believe the MSM is crucial in the destruction of this government… Let’s face it, they had plenty of practice with Labor over the past 6 years.

You are dead right, they owe Australia big time, for the deceit that they perpetrated upno us, but they act like it was nothing to do with them 😯

There is very little journalism in what they do these days, and I think that for many of them, it will come down to deep regret, when the shit hits the fan. 😦

To Joe Banks…I fear any journalists who see the light and start telling us the truth will soon be out of a job. On another note, I have been out of the loop due to surgery. Do you think Kevin Rudd’S recent resignation may have something to do with Abbott’s pink batts enquiry? I think his resignation will take the heat out it. Interested in your opinions. Do you think Abbott will pursue hi now he has left Parliament ?

        Caz2; Truth Seeker; Cornlegend.

Imagine the repercussions if an enquiry found the Government to be responsible for deaths and injury during the roll out of the ‘pink batts’ – stimulus programme!

Every future death or injury or financial loss, in any way connected with any Government funding, will result in compensation payouts from taxpayer money.

E.g. A ‘first home buyer’ who falls off a roof will claim that: “If the Government hadn’t given me the grant, I wouldn’t have built a house – therefore it is responsible!”

Campbell Newman accused the Rudd Government on AM in 2012:
“His was a government …… they actually you know burnt down homes through the batts debacle,” http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2012/s3416068.htm

The coalition can’t have it both ways: If one Government programme leads to total culpability, then all government programmes will be responsible for the failings of everyone involved. “That’s just democracy….stupid!”

I actually consider that statements like Newman’s fall into a category worthy of police investigation: “incitement to riot…. causing public alarm and making false statements with the intent to cause public alarm”…. but that’s another topic of discussion.

I agree with Cornlegend, that Labor could have done more to stop the lying, cheating distortions by invoking the ‘Al Capone Trap’…. He was finally stopped and sent to prison for Tax evasion. Each little transgression should be viewed as an opportunity to gouge out the rot then, bit by bit, the structure collapses. Lets face it, the LNP has gifted Labor many more than ‘few little transgressions’ to work with.

If (and it is a very big IF) the government was found culpable then the implications would be huge for them as, (and I know they haven’t realised it yet) they ARE the government now 😀

But IMHO this is just Labor bashing of the most blatant and vindictive kind, and will not find anything that the previous 8 enquiries didn’t find (At least nothing REAL). 😯

I agree totally that Newman SHOULD be arrested on many charges, and not only the ones you cited 😯

The irony of the whole HIP scheme scandal is that those that are really responsible, the true culprits (The crooked and negligent installation company owners), would be largely, if not entirely LNP voters/supporters/members? 😈

Yes the ALP should have started quite a few enquiries at the start of their last term, if not before. 😦

          Cheers 😀

Bow ripped off asylum boat as Customs attempted to tow it

An Australian Customs patrol boat had to rescue about 40 asylum-seekers at the weekend after accidentally ripping the bow of the boat away and causing it to start sinking.

Multiple sources have told Fairfax Media that the patrol boat was trying to tow the fishing vessel when it damaged the front of the vessel, causing it to take on water.

The fishing boat’s engines had stopped about 20 kilometres off Christmas Island but it is unclear whether Customs was at the time of the incident trying to tow the boat back towards Indonesia or to Christmas Island.
